Are we really this daft?!?

FWIW, I do believe they’ll have resolved to do something. I’m not convinced the method will be set in stone yet, so there may be real benefit in pushing back on this.

If Govt can be persuaded to keep s2 distinct, even if it comes with some changes, that’s likely to be a hell of a lot better than complete removal and transfer of shotguns to s1.

We can and do influence things = Sometimes common sense does shine through

Grey hound racing was to be banned in Wales but opposition to its ban has i believe stayed it for now

Our local council banned fishing on a local lake - a bit campaign and support from BASC and spearheaded by CA again has stayed and maybe reversed the decision

Having a look at the petition for changing shotguns to section 1 and there are 42k signatures….

This seems ridiculous considering there are almost 500k shotgun certificate holders in the U.K. alone, not considering the FaC holders and other fieldsports enthusiasts it just seems laughable!

Imfuriating

Bondi is Australia, this is the U.K., they are not the same laws.
It will be used to prove a point, especially as the shooter had a certificate and it appears the guns were licensed, supposedly the move from sect2 to sect1 in the UK is due to a spate of shootings, strange how they never made the news

They will find any excuse then - if they weren’t morons they would realise this is not about legislation, it’s about how existing laws and legislation of applied.

I somehow feel it's folk with only SGC that are missing this.
I completely agree.
I think if you explained to a sgc holder what a carry on it is managing under firearms certificate protocols, they would be shocked. I was certainly surprised years ago that a friend with a FAC couldn’t just collect a gun from the gunshop for me for example. I think this type of thing would be difficult for them to understand unless they have taken time to read about it.

Apathy as well as low headcount will be the death of this sport

It’s going to be done regardless of the petition result.
You are being brought into compliance with EU firearms definitions and licensing regulations.
If you shout louder you might get some pistols back.

It's not like the dictatorship actually notifies all concerned parties upfront, that would be far too democratic.
