Good morning all. Thinking of changing my Mitsubishi L200 for a Toyota hilux about 23 plate and want to clarify what the road tax will cost me??. Only for private use .Thanks

Thanks mate. I was just not sure of the emissions but do you know if that only applies to a brand new one. People talking of £5000 !!

There's a car tax on new vehicles based on CO2 emissions which can amount to £5490 at its highest upon 1st registration.

Simialry VED increases with CO2 emission values too.

I wonder if the deals available on new trucks will be offering to cover that tax ? That and the BiK changes must mean less people looking at new trucks.

Typically the vehicles affected are in the higher value brackets, a similar tax has been introjected based on the value of EV vehicles £45/50k IIRC which makes some EV buyers moan, frankly if one can afford to spend £40-50k on a car then im not entirely sure why it would be a significant burden to pay more tax. I could be wrong but i doubt those considering spending £40-50K on a new car are worried about paying their heating bills. JMHO of course.

Save your money and buy a well maintained privately owned Hilux, at 99k with 11 service stamps she’s just finding her legs…..Christmas deal to be done and no vat!
