The out yesterday or today thread and...

Good on you SD. There's nothing like pulling off a difficult shot. In a funny sort of way it can be a shame there isn't an audience to applaud the skill displayed.

Well... didn't you do well for yourself sako 751sg. That's a lot of plucking. The abundance o working spaniels on display in TSD never ceases to amaze me. It's something I don't see in Oz forums or out working.

1st outing of 2026 this afternoon in -3c

I know this thread isn't about deer but I shot 2 roe does and saw a few bucks regrowing their antlers.

On shooting the 1st doe had a red kite hovering over it in no time , must be hungry.

Nicely done mate.

Since you continue to be naughty I ll add to the bad behaviour.

Decent size fallow buck (56 kg larder weight), first light yesterday. 150 yard chest shot, 6.5 creed S&B Blue 120 grains. He made a 20 yard dash despite a bust shoulder and exploded heart.

This farm is great. Shoot deer, walk back to farm, get plasterers bath and ladder out of pickup, place into back of mule (posh quad not a horsey thing in case anyone asks) , drive to deer, roll into bath, slide up ladder rested against back of mule...simples :) 👍

You will know that I am built for speed and not power 👍

Lucky you, I still have to drag most deer.

I ll do it if I need to but much prefer to avoid it being a skinny office dweller (most of the time) :) Dragging 4 fallow 200 or so yards and then through a hedge a few years ago made me think about making it easier. I have the utmost respect for those who deal with reds.
Only gets worse the older you get 👴

I took the Cocker out at lunchtime to shoot over her. All I've done so far with her this year is beating.
It allowed me to clamp onto her a bit, brush up on the training... I've let her open up a bit in the beating line in some of the big woods,
A partridge dropped 200 yards away. I worked her out to the drop site, but she failed to pick it, so I ended up getting across a ditch and walking halfway, then sent her off again. She found and picked it straight away then.
I also pushed a lovely fox out of a piece of wildbird cover... hopefully that will feature in the "Out Last Night" section.

Out for a stalk early this morning but the deer were already well tucked in for the day
These 2 dog foxes were following a vixen back into the cover
Made the double on them as their minds were elsewhere
Missed the vixen as she was running through the rushes 🤬
Well done Buddy, They Ont be no more trouble👍
