Evening all, thought I would share my recent positive experience with a variation (NOT one-for-one) with the Met:

Applied for an additional slot on September 25th, old certificate posted back the same day

Got an email with some questions to clarify the request on September 29th

Got new certificate in the post today

12 days including two weekends… can’t complain

Wow. Currently on 9weeks and still waiting with Sussex police. They’ve had a system change and having issues!

Mine took roughly the same they not bad at all once you have your FAC

Had mine varied while at the SHOOTING SHOW this year, took all of an hour and a half.

Put mine in on 8th August. Still waiting now, there was a hiccup between systems but was sorted by 8th September. FO has said he has done his bit and all sorted his end. But I’m still waiting. 15weeks so far.

I also have a deposit on a rifle at my local gun store. Who are currently very understanding.

Got another variation back today, this time a one-for-one. Applied 14th December which makes it 23 days including over the Christmas and New Year period... again, can't complain

The wait times seem to be extending out

Recently been advised via basc 13-15months current wait for new grants Vs 9-11 months when I put my application in

And I know that in whatever-shire it is taking 2 years or more but it is just indicative of a completely broken system which isn't getting worse not better

That is a long time mine was 9 months
