My Golf Mk II synchro did 400,000 kms with no problems and that was an early 80s vehicle.Freelander 2 will easily cover 250,000 miles I’ve a few customers with high mileage freelander 2s

I’d heard bushes were (to be fair, one of a number) of things to plan for. Whole assembly gets changed out rather than a few quid on a bush.Full disclosure, my mates one , about three year old, hasn't broken down, as far as I'm aware, and I enjoy a hurl in it. But I know it just cost him four figures for bushes and other bits.
My D-max got to 125k with 0 issues aside from regular maintenance
My L200 is now on 75k (touch wood) no issues aside from regular maintenance
My Mazda no issues aside from regular maintenance
My (2x) disco 4s, almost no issues aside from regular maintenance
My Disco 5, I’m now on the second in two years, and still don’t feel like it’s been on the drive long enough (vs back in the garage being sorted) to even call ‘mine’ yet
Again though, as others have said, there’s not much else out there that does it like a disco, so if you’re set on getting one, wishing you the best of luck!

Maybe I am getting to an age where I should consider a land cruiser![]()

One person , if you want anything land rover do your research online with reliability surveys etc and base your choice off that not one person.Don’t let anybody put you off Landrover, they are the ultimate off roader and all rounder. I say everything gives trouble- just fix it and move on
It’s very sad that the enormous loyalty that JLR built up is being squandered on very expensive products that are not fit for purpose - for the outlay, it’s reasonable to expect reliability comparable to its competition. Instead what we get is form over function, the opposite of where they started. Now a brand to be ridiculed and feared not revered. Good job they don’t make aircraft…Jim
id love a disco 4 or 5 !..... sat in my pals and often think.... mmmm nice place to be .. but the bother hes had is mind blowing. and to be honest id say that in terms of folk I've heard good vs bad reports on recent JLR products its a case of 90% don't touch them to 10% I've had no bother
odds aren't close enough for me to consider it to be fair

Didn’t realise they had put the 2l in those. I have heard nothing good about them (ingenium, right?)Again mixed reviews - Landrover 2.0 engine is not good, majority of new early models are 2.0 models and have developed a bad reputation. This engine is in the jaguar xe/xpace, Landrover evogue, velar, disco sports. My opinions are on the 3.0v6 engine which I have the experience with. I haven’t heard any really bad reports on the D300/350.
