Best round for Reds

Hi,

Have a 6.5 creedmoor for stalking but am considering a larger calibre for reds. Any suggestions?

Personally, I think the best round for red deer is the one that sits a little high on the shoulder.

There are probably quite a few game dealers who think the best round is placed in the head or neck.

Bought a .308 this year for more knocking power on reds. Dont think I’d swap to anything else unless I get bored of it. 150gr soft point and flattened spikers to a huge rutting stag all between 150-250 yards.

Do you reload? If yes, 280 Rem, 7mm SAUM, 7PRC or similar.

If no, 30.06, 308, 7x57, 7x64 or just use the 6.5CM with decent bullets.

The classic calibres will all do the job.
