Out last night.

Agreed ... learnt my lesson crow shooting...truck stuck before first light so left it there..shot for 3 hours then got a tow  👍

Once got one stuck in the wood and had to wait 3 months for it to dry out hahahahahahah

Same with JCB actually - had that stuck for over a week while the rain stopped

Well great result last night. Met farmer and had a good bit craic , told us a fox had been coming in the barn and taking hens. He said the keeper was useless and never went foxing even though he had asked for help with this problem.

Anyway we got set up out the back of the barn and had a dog fox with no teeth on the ground within a couple of minutes which was heading to said barn .

Farmer rang as heard shot and was well impressed.

We continued and got set up on the 2nd stand and had another toothless dog fox within a minute , mate shot this one at 252 yds 👌

Did call in a 3rd fox but it hung up and no shot presented itself.

Great piece of ground and farmer has said you are welcome to come back anytime , bollocks to the useless keeper 🤣

Always good to make a positive first impression, tidy job!

Forecast is rain/snow sweeping in about 10.30pm, off out now for a walk round two farms. One is boggy every winter, expecting a quagmire there! Hope i don't lose a welly!!

Just been stalking a fox that is in and out of a wood. I've observed it climb a tree to try and get to a pheasant until the pheasant flew off.
I've watched it trying and catch ducks. It came so far to a squeal but stopped and returned to the wood.
I think it has a warm lay in there.
The freezing wind has frozen me and my chest is burning!
I want this one badly!

No show from the Vixen last night, packed in when some batteries started to give out in the below 0 C temps, but a very good drying effect from the stiff wind, some of the ruts were drying out pretty sharpish.
Very dry out on the lanes in the village, so if the promised snow turns up it will deffo stick.

Forecast was dry and cold last night and for once the BBC and weather both agreed

Had a good wander around the first farm which is about 150 acres and all was quiet.

Over to the second 400 acre farm. Parked up, over the track onto one field that yields good results and spotted a fox heading the wrong way towards the road. A car came along and not sure if that spooked the fox but it headed back in my direction and for 200 or so yards made a perfect path straight at me...behind the fence then it shot off at speed towards some lapwings in the field who were bright enough to fly off. The fox headed back, through the gate into the field I was in and a loud "oi" stopped it about 80 yards away. Nice big dog fox and no 11

Vixens really are so much brighter than dogs

another gap in the weather/rain last night so went out
i sat in a high seat for 11/2hrs without seeing a fox (loads of rabbits and 5 muntjac)
so walked the whole of the farm without seeing a fox. yet more rabbits and 4 more muntjac
almost giving up i sat in a different high seat for 1/2 hour, was just about to give up when a vixen appeared

Fair play for patiently sitting for over 1 hour...I have a low boredom threshold so about 15 mins in 1 spot with the caller is all I can stand....unless its a problem fox and then I ll stand, sit and pace for hours hoping the bugger will turn up :)
