I couldn’t even begin to list how many songs he has written, sang and influenced

I remember the long drive up north to family as a child 40yrs ago. My mother would play audio cassettes of 60's love songs and rock and roll on the stereo. Fond memories of Oh Carol and Breaking up is hard to do. I was always a sucker for a basic melody and he had that licked.

He has left an amazing legacy of fine songs, both as a singer and a songwriter. Just a small selection: Stupid Cupid, Oh! Carol (about Carole King), The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, Calendar Girl, Love Will Keep Us Together, (Is This The Way To) Amarillo.
