This is the setup I have been thinking about. What pard do you have please? Been told there not to good quality image with good glass? But haven’t had one to try on mine.Always glass for daytime, can't get on with digital. I have digital scopes for night and usually carry a pard 007 with me if I might stay out a little later
Pardon my ignorance, what is a GPO?Another convert back to glass from digital. I put an Alpex 4K on my .243 and did not get on with it for some reason so I have put my GPO scope back on and use it for NV if needed with my pard back clip on (the second gen shorter model). For deer I just didnt get on with it compared to glass and for low light I can carry my pard clip on in my pocket and whack it on when needed.
Though to be fair for fox most of the time and rabbits I am using my .17 hornet with a pard thermal mainly as its stupidly light weight for walking around with.
To be honest the image quality from the Pard GPO combo with an IR laser at night is very good so all I lose off the 4K is the range finder and BC but with the .243 that is kind of irrelivant as I have a range finder on my thermal spotter.
German Precision Optics, scope brandPardon my ignorance, what is a GPO?

I'm constantly lamenting the loss of a scope . Nothing beats a scope for daytime use.
My Zulus is fantastic at night and not to bad in the day but never as good as glass.
My pard ds on the hmr is mediocre but ok.
Again I miss glass for daytime. Having to switch on and off, carry cells. Focus every shot. Bright sun and pixelation blah blah.
I'm constantly tempted to get a good add on.
A pard 007sp 4k maybe.
I had a 2k version but had it on a scope that would not come below 6x so it was difficult to acquire a target sometimes due to lack of fov from the add ons high base mag of 2x.
With hind sight I should of got a different scope.
Anyway, one doesn't hear much about add ons any more let alone the 007sp range.
My sytong 66 is getting on now but still delivers at night.

I know one has to compromise shooting position of the head some but off sticks it's not so bad.
Has anyone else considered going back to a glass/ add on combination? Or is it just me?

There is a chance that it could foul on the knob that does it up but my knob (which is 3d printed) failed ages ago. I just replaced it with a philips head bolt which sits totally flush and allows (I always have a little victorinox knife in my pocket) it to be done up nice and snug and in my view is better than the original design. That way it definitely would not foul the bolt as both sides would effectively offer the same clearance and I have never had any issues on mine shooting Anschutz, Mauser and S&L rifles. It would have to be a very very high bolt lift to foul it I feel.if using a left hand bolt action does the vulpine mounted foul the bolt ?
