What powder charge are you using? I’m at 72.0gr with RS76 and 180ELDMDid my first test loads for brand new 7mm PRC today. RS76 with 180gr ELDM and found QL to have been very pessimistic on velocity. Got great accuracy and 3k with no pressure signs.
Ignore the QL data from Ed above. Very incorrect COAL in that. Should be circa 3.320”
Hi @gaza916 , did a ladder starting at 72.1gr and soon realised that QL was being very pessimistic on velocity forecast as I was over 3,000 fps with the first shot! I stopped at 73.3gr with no pressure but didn't want to push my luck and pulled the rest of the trial ladder loads. Went back and loaded 5 more at, coincidentally, 72.0gr and got good accuracy. @Eric the Red kindly ran an. OBT calculation for me yesterday which suggested 72.3gr was a good node and this reconciled with my ladder test which showed stable velocity 72.0-72.6gr. Loaded up a batch at 72.3gr to test when I get time which will probably be next weekend now. All loaded at 3.320". Accuracy looks very encouraging indeed! Early days but it looks like this combo is going to be fantastic for long range gong bashing. What powder charge are you using? I’m at 72.0gr with RS76 and 180ELDM
Coincides exactly with what I found. I tried ApexLoad Pro out of curiosity. It predicted a very similar velocity to that calculated by Quickload and was circa 150fps slower than reality so not sure it is any better?QL is no good for RS powders , far too inconsistent . This has been long established
Apex load pro is a lot more accurate ApexLOAD PRO
