Annealing

Just think... You will get 20-25 reloads and single hole groups if you really put some effort into it, rather than lying on a bedchair waiting for a Delkim to warble off :norty:
Don’t you swear at me Delkim 😂😂😂 I use FOX and I’ve just bought a new memory foam bedchair 👌 worth every penny when your bank tramping

Enjoy it, mate, the weather is warming, and the daylight is getting longer, they will soon be in silly mode.
It was so warm yesterday in a little suntrap where I was working, I thought some of them will be well up in the top layer in the sun, especially if it's sheltered and shallow water..
Bag a biggun'

Got 2 days on the cwd left then rifles off for a spray tan and I’m off fishing!

Horlicks to the deer!

You’re not selling it to me!

Too much time and faff better off fishing 👌
It’s not any faff at all.

It’s money to buy a machine.

I don’t know what your reloading routine is but save up however many you reload at a time and anneal them.

Won’t take long in a rotary machine.

Some people use a electric screwdriver and a hand torch for 6 seconds.

Some use an AMP but at £1500 odd quid I’d be fishing with you.

With all due respect, for the princely sum of £55 for a bag of 50 PPU 7 x 57 cases and after I’ve reloaded them 10 or 15 times I’m just simply not that desperate to faff about with all that ball ache!

At the end of the day, if you’re worried about brass costs, you really need to think about packing the old shooting game in in reality!

You see all this yowling about how good it is etc but when the cookie comes to crumble, I can think of better things to do and all you gents have very kindly done is save me a few more quid that I can spend on my fishing much appreciated👌

Why did you ask if you already decided.

Can anyone actually tell me be befits of annealing?

For what I can gather it’s a lot of money for bugger all benefit.
you're correct, it serves no purpose for the everyday shooter, other than the all important feel good factor. Primer pockets will normally loosen way before necks split if you're using quality brass. Although some calibers do suffer from necks splitting, but that's mainly while forming wildcat calibers.

Competitive long range target shooting is a different matter altogether. Consistent neck tension makes a difference too extreme spread and standard deviation, both of which only have any meaningful impact once you start getting beyond 600 yards.

As far as I'm aware short range benchrest shooters don't get hung up about extreme spreads, a small group is a small group. I had a 6BR that had a ES of 40 and shot silly small groups at 100 yards.

I do anneal using a AMP as I'm a competitive target shooter along with being a sporting shooter.

Thank you 🙏 thats appreciated, I don’t and never will target shoot, that’s properly nipped that thought in the bud.

Once I decided to homeloaded I was inevitably going to anneal cases.
The accuracy is better and so is the neck tension.
Although others may not see a value in it, I do and will continue to anneal cases until I don’t shoot anymore.
And above all, I enjoy the ‘me time’ that reloading gives me. I don’t get pestered when I’m doing it !

If annealing is a waste of time, how is waiting all weekend for a big goldfish to pick up a bait, then putting it back so you can do it again next weekend, a good use of time?
That’s a different ball game, I go to chill out from life at the coal face, a fish is purely a bonus, you lot get excited about punching paper and shooting gnats fart size groups and wasting bullets shooting gongs, I can do that in my back garden!

If you wanna get anally retarded over your brass🙈😂 carry you on but I’ve got better things to do like go stalking or fishing, luckily for me I have the ability to go to the cupboard get my rifle walk out of my gate and go to so happy days.
