Bespoke Deer larder

That looks like its stainless steel and looks like a proper deal 50% of what . Now i paid Just short of £3000 now that's a lot of cash to lay out for a rec stalker. Not sure what your unit cost but 3000 for a large plastic fridge. With a 50% discount its still a rip off. Any one wanting to be part of this deal must go for the larger units because the smaller ones are a con.
So you didn’t use the grant then?

Interesting thread David, sorry to hear you’re not happy with yours. For anyone still looking at the LU9000, I have a brand new one still in the box with the castors kit (in Edinburgh). The castors solve the cleaning-underneath issue completely (just wheel it out).
How come you’re selling if you don’t mind me asking?

looked at a Landig and done my research, best I could get it for was 3k delivered to Ireland. I'm not shooting commercial.

In the end I went for a Maxima, it has bigger internal dimensions than the lu9000 but pretty similar in spec, comes in Black and the finish quality is excellent. Needed to make some internal hanging bars but I got it delivered for a little over 1k. will fit 4 sika easy. Think it is the happy medium to spend as a recreational hunter but each to their own. Is the Maxima perfect, no there are things I would like it to have but for the money I don't think I could have gotten any better. time will tell how it performs long term but so far, very impressed.
Which Maxima model did you pick? Also, for my own interest, how are you going to fix rails?

Just a Maxima 600l in black, was largest internal one I could find within my budget and within temp range for hanging deer, nothing special but overall excellent for the money and a very solid option at its price point. Emailed the company I dealt with and got more discount off retail too, was delivered within the week so no complaints so far. I will need to put a light into it also but for the rails will weld some tubular cross bars to some metal plates (same dimension as the standard shelves) that slides in and out as I need them. fridge can be used for other things then in the off season. Like I said I am not doing it commercial. Did look strongly at the Landig but could not justify it given I have no access to grants and would be forking out the full price which is more in Ireland than the UK as usual.

Cut your cloth to suit your table....and all that!

Out of interest, did you try to contact Landig in Germany to enquire about a direct import to Ireland.
They had the 11000 on sale for around €3,200 from memory but wouldn’t entertain a direct sale as they said I had to go through their UK distributors.

I did look at direct from Landig yes but never had the conversation with them.

Other European suppliers had them listed as cheaper but once you selected the delivery address the price changed which really annoys me as we are also in Europe but somehow always end up getting shafted at checkout stage.

For example, thought I had one for €1900 which I would have pulled trigger on, only to find out when I entered my location the shipping jumped up over a 1k. Cant justify the difference...so much for being in a European market.

I have an LU10,000 and it is absolutely brilliant, well made, easy to clean - most impressive is how it chills 2/3 Fallow down to temperature so quickly. Also it's a really good height, you could easily fit a big Red deer without the neck draging - just makes it much easier to clean out underneath and loads of airflow. Well worth the money IMO.

I have some upgrades from Game Larder - strip light, drip tray, additional slot in rail for easy loading. Great bit of kit would thoroughly recommend. Can't speak for the 9,000 as only seen them at shows.

I've had a 9000 for about 3 years. Put a lot of deer through it. Easy to clean, gets to temp in about 10 mins and I like the option of fan or not fan (depending on whether carcass is in the fur or not). The three rails are decent and the extra rail attachment is useful. It's not a perfect fridge and I can't get more than one large red hind in or two smaller ones. Excellent for fallow, roe and muntjac. Easy to clean underneath and super easy to flush out as the interior is a sealed unit. I paid £2k I think after a bit of haggling with the bloke that has since stopped selling them.
It suits me and I shoot about 50 deer a year. It would not be great if you need space for several carcasses at the same time - walk in chillers would be more appropriate. For a hobby stalker though I really rate it. I'd been through several 'coke' fridges that eventually broke down and then created additional hassle getting another, putting a bar in, disposing of the old one blah blah.
If I had a decent budget I'd probably have a small walk in chiller made.
Anyway, thumbs up for Landig for me. Their bone saws are great too btw! :)
