Don't shoot the fallow bucks this time of year

Is what the stalker said in the pub the other night. I didn't get a chance to ask him 'why not'.
So, is there a reason for this? I don't shoot many fallow so interested to hear if there is a valid reason.

I think there is still a closed season on Male red, roe and fallow deer in England. At this time of year most bucks will shedding their winter coat, and they will be better carcasses once they have had a bit of spring grass into them.

You need to be culling everything you can and not be selective about it. Not many days left outside Scotland now.

If he was a 'stalker' he would be in the larder dressing out his fallow buck carcasses not in the pub waxing lyrical.
