Fancy a crossbow...

... again.
None locally so totally confused which to go for. Need not be the quickest and needs not be over £400!
Like some of the pistol ones but not sure.
I've had a jandau in the past and it was very good.
Any one here had or have any?

What do you want it for?
The heavier, faster ones get a bit tiresome and expensive. The bolts will wreck a standard archery target in jig time.
They’re also accurate enough that you can’t really shoot groups without hammering the nocks off the last bolt you sent down range.
The pistol variants are no better than an air pistol, and you don’t have to collect up the bolts with an air gun.
Tried it, didn’t suit me, but you suit yourself, you’ll die wondering otherwise.
A backyard bow suits me better, very popular at BBQ’s and when the grandkids are over and their mammies aren’t watching.

Excalibur have decent, compact, simple non-cam units; fitted mine with a Triggertech roller bearing trigger unit, which reduced let off markedly and helped greatly with potential accuracy.

I've sent off for a bow now.

Kind of funny no one other than @Freeforester wanted to openly admit to owning one!
Can't decide if crossbow is a disgusting word or the establishment has everyone that enjoys shooting sports shitting themselves privately.
Hey ho.....

By sheer coincidence Smelly I found my old Barnet in the garage roof space only two weeks ago. Reunited it with the only bolt I still have (which had been used as a poky thing in my mancave for about 30 years. All I need now is to reunite them for a shot (from memory you only get one per bolt) and of course a strapping young lad to draw the sodding thing……

There’s definitely a stigma to them. At one point, don’t know if it still is, mere possession of a crossbow would automatically make you ineligible for any shooting sports cover under BASC insurance (probably others as well)!

I’m in favour of all shooting sports but never personally found any use for a crossbow, maybe because they were the cheap tipe but, I like shooting the occasional bow. If you haven’t tried a modern compound bow it’s worth looking at something like the Mathews. All Bows

Parallel limbs are a game changer. I expect it will be the case for crossbows as well.

Had several bows, compounds and reads. Loved them all. Use to do field target with my daughter.

125 grain centerpoint mechanical broadhead sacrifice one for practice but you need a dedicated target for crossbows otherwise you will soon run out of broadheads and bolts🤣
