For the blokes with sheds that have a vise.

I have a nice Parker Hale "The Bisley" vice. It is designed to hold rifles, and even came with a pair of clamps to enable it to be fitted to an old-school tent pole. Perfect for Bisley Camp(ing). The original advertising even claimed that it was small enough that no housewife could object to its presence in the kitchen. I have shown this testimonial to Mrs. Gain, but for some reason she was not convinced by its evident good sense. And she is usually such a level-headed woman. Baffling.

Hi John

Thank you for sharing - interesting indeed.
I am in the process cleaning/tidying up a Record no.5 before mounting to my bench - it was left outdoors with 2 others and about to be scrapped!

I have a Record bench vice my first proper girlfriend gave it to me for Xmas about 45 yrs ago. Sadly she died of a brain tumour a while back but her memory still remains. I have a 3 other small portable ones one has a rotating base. V handy for small jobs.

I cant speak for others, but never had a shed without a bench and a vice. Actually, two. One large, to hold a barrel, receiver or stock, the other small for fine work on small parts. Oh, and a hand vice. Ideal to get a grip on small parts that need all around attention.
