Hello all
I’ve got a new slot on my ticket for 6.5 x55 Looking for recommendations on real world experiences for ammunition for the tikka t3x. For both lead and non toxic, preferably non toxic.
Does anybody have this particular rifle in this caliber and have good manufactures they can recommend?
Cheers

I believe GMK now import RWS, so they should be easy enough to source, but you might need to ask a dealer to add a few boxes to their order. I've only recently started to used them, and only on roe so far. They work well. I previously used RWS DK in my 6.5x55 including red deer on the hill out to 250yds without any issues.

buy four boxes 2 lead and two non lead 120gr to 140gr find the round that shoots best in YOUR RIFLE. when you find the round the rifle likes buy your limit and buy more as you use a box up . no one can tell you the round your rifle likes .all 6.5x55 bullets will kill deer !

I’ve had this rifle, although in its previous Lite rather than X form, calibre combo for years. Haven’t really found anything it doesn’t like!

Shot Federal PowerShok, Hornady SST, RWS DK and Norma Nosler BST, amongst others, all with accurate and consistent results. 120 or 140 grain. I’ve just moved over to non lead and the Sako Power Blade are accurate on paper but yet to try on deer.

Thanks for the info, I’m going to look at running some power blades through it 👍

My Tikka 6.5x55, as did others, worked well with Geco lead ammo. I think 156gr. Really cheap and good accuracy.
As to nontoxic I home load the Sako blades and they work well. As to factory I would think Sako would be my first choice

Thanks, another vote for the sako, I’ll be getting some to try

I've killed feral hogs with an m/96 using PPU 140 grain soft points, Federal 140 grain powershoks, and Hornady Superformance 140 grain SSTs. The most accurate load has been Lapua Mega 156 grain but I've never used it on game. The comparatively cheap PPU punches well above its price and is adequate for most situations.

Ive ran a tikka 6,5x55 for 9 years now , sako 130gr were the business but not available now
My go to right now is Fiocchi 129gr epn which is a 129gr sst loaded by fiocchi they are cheap and cheerful they shoot about 1-1.2” from my original tikka t3 which is pushing 20 years old now

Im in ireland and ive knocked reds fallow and a couple hybrids with no issues on neck shots performance has been great

PPU 140gr cheap and the cases are good to reload just try whatever you can get also used remington and federal ppu 156gr are ok in woodland but are abit slow
