hi folks im after a bit of advice, I am considering getting a drinks fridge or catering size fridge to make my own little larder. now I am just wondering ,those of you out there that have one, what is the best way to fit a rail/pole to hang carcases off without compromising the sides as I imagine they would be very flimsy? all advice welcome, thanks

Just out a wood or metal bar across the plastic ridge where the shelf slides in at the top and hang the deer from there. It shouldn't be a problem. Isn't in mine.

Use the rail attachments for the trays to make a cross member.

If you give me about 20 mins I’ll send you a photo of my very own Heath Robinson arrangement….it does however work.

Here you go the main points are:

1. No drilling into the case of the fridge
2. Use the existing anchor points for the old shelving.
3. I used some old struts drilled out and tied together with cable ties.

It’ll take x3/4 Muntjac - x2 Roe or a single Fallow.

If I did it again I’d use a small but sturdy pipe X bar as opposed to flat bar for the hanging rail.

I bought one of these:

Roe and smaller will hang from s-hooks off the shelves:

Anything bigger really needs a bar and support setup. Links to buy the bits to create this are included in the thread(s) below the picture. I've bought the bits and will be making ready for the Fallow season but haven't got round to just yet:

Mine is just a domestic larder fridge and I hang roe off the bottle rack shelf thingy, have had 4 on the shelf and all good.

I enjoyed looking at all of the solutions and recently got a second hand commercial fridge.

Here is my solution! Cheap and cheerful, non rusting and wipeable. I'll finish it by siliconing the bar/board to avoid moisture getting in

31.75mm x 3mm Galvanised Tubes

£4.22 plus £9.50 p and p (I bought two just in case) shop cut them for me to be 8mm less than the width of the fridge

20mm HDPE chopping board 300x400mm
£11.98 plus £6.95 p and p (cut into 300x180 pieces)

32mm flat wood drill bit. Drilled partial thickness leaving 5mm ish left to stiffen the joint and make a nice tight interference fit

I could swing off the bar I reckon!
