Is it because you like Blaser?

To clarify the rifle will be predominantly used for foxes & roe and although I LIKE the PRS stocks, for practicality it would probably be a PSE and before people say why go to the expensive of something like this for foxes and roe ,this will ultimately be my last centrefire rifle purchased as my shooting has been severely curtailed after my accident and I want something nice![]()

Nothing better to do than ruin someone's thread asking for advice on building a rifle ?I did, I’m just not persuaded that an assembled collection of un modified mass produced components qualifies as a custom rifle.
For example, I could go to my nearest Blaser dealer and select from a wide variety of parts and pieces to produce a rifle that would be pretty much unique to me, but I wouldn’t call that a custom build.
The OP specified that they are looking for a custom build. I’m just trying to understand what they mean by “ custom “.Nothing better to do than ruin someone's thread asking for advice on building a rifle ?

Is that a problem for you?

Where did I say that his choice was wrong?what you've done is ignore him and tell him he's wrong in your opinion because you don't think his choice is a 'custom' build malxwal has a point ......
The point is, your commentary is pointless and unhelpful.Where did I say that his choice was wrong?
I did say that I don’t consider the assembly of a number of unmodified different mass produced parts into a single build is not a custom build.
In my opinion, which you are free to disagree with, you choose the builder that produces the closest thing to your ideal, but is still identifiable as a build by XXX at 40 paces by those that care.
A Boss is identifiably different to a Purdey or an H+ H.
I think that a true “ custom rifle “ is the same.
It should represent the combination of the vision of the person that envisions and commissions the build with the skills and artistry of the builder who brings the vision to life in their own inimitable style.
“This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine”
something to be carried with pride and be identifiable as “ yours” from 20 paces.
That’s my view, YMMV.
How is my comment either pointless or unhelpful? The point is, your commentary is pointless and unhelpful.
From the OP, it was clear what route his build was to take. Bring pedantic about the definition of a custom rifle is something that's been done to death, and is in no way contributing anything to the gents plans, other than perhaps belittling them because he hasn't opted to spend a years wages on a rifle hewn from lump. How is my comment either pointless or unhelpful?
It’s my opinion based on what I believe constitutes a custom build.
A Lloyd rifle is a custom build, so is a Lawson thumb hole , both are no longer fashionable, but they are undeniably custom builds. Have a look at the rifle rack in an Olympic biathlon, all custom built for the user and the sport.
Selecting a set of factory components and assembling them without some personal artistic input from the builder or the person who commissioned the build is not a custom build. If anyone can produce the exactly the same firearm by buying the same parts and assembling them precisely way, it’s not a custom build.
This is an old argument, neither version is either right nor wrong, just different.
I have no problem with the OP’s choice, it’s their money and they know their own needs far better than I do.From the OP, it was clear what route his build was to take. I totally agree but when you have a set back in life as I have had ,treating yourself to something nice/different to the norm in my opinion is justified.Perhaps we should call these rifles, off shelf parts built rifles,. Customised to your requirements, I doubt if many will kill anymore than a off the shelf rifle, but one thing is sure it will be worth 50% less than you paid for it

As will an off the shelf one. If you're lucky.Perhaps we should call these rifles, off shelf parts built rifles,. Customised to your requirements, I doubt if many will kill anymore than a off the shelf rifle, but one thing is sure it will be worth 50% less than you paid for it
