It makes for truly disturbing reading and, at my reading at least, is not without implications for us all if the fears of many within the rural community come to pass as per the following extract from the article:

I suspect that is a common misconception, as you say.
We all get tarred with the same brush as a result of people's ignorance.

Given so many of us are out foxing, rabbiting or have trail cameras set up in key places, is this an opportunity for the stalking community to help out?
Some of my farms have been targeted and they have made some changes to their roadside boundaries as a result, but we are more likely to be up and about at odd times, so maybe our collective watchful eye could help stop the dog boy scum from destroying the countryside.

I thought the picture was in a police property store rather than in the dwelling place of the cup's holder?

Travellers: a protected minority. Goodness knows why. All they seem to do is cause misery wherever they go. I've just been reading that two of the little scrouts who were in the car that dragged PC Andrew Harper down the road are being considered under the early release scheme by this treacherous Labour government.
Theft, extortion, human trafficking, drug dealing they really are the pits, these do-as-ya-likeys.

I used to enjoy coursing. Watched the Waterloo Cup a few times, regularly attended the Anglia Cup, and enjoyed being invited as a guest to watch the Whippet Coursing Club.
Of course, having an early morning walk with my own lurchers was always the best

There was a piece on the radio the other day relating to a coursing incident in Lincolnshire where thirty vehicles turned up on a remote farm and with dogs and trapped hares and for several hours besieged the place running a mini Waterloo cup event

The cops didn’t attend despite repeated calls from the farmer who was present in his home with young frightened daughter

Time the tide was turned

There's much to be frustrated about in what continues to happen in this regard. However, my particular concern is what might happen when one of these seriously let down and hacked off Farmers/Landowners comes to renew thier shotgun or firearms certificate and the FEO is uncomfortable with the applicant being subject to such stress and potential for the "red mist" to descend. What if he/she errs on the side of caution and refuses the application?

I took part in a lot of legal and well arranged hare coursing events in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I helped train coursing greyhounds and one of my close friends was a well regarded slipper and, just like 99% of us on here, the sport was undertaken with a high degree of sporting fairness and decency, with most hares escaping unharmed.

Even the hare catching days I took part in were all about redistributing hares to areas where numbers were low and everyone was there of their own cost - apart from a free lunch!

What we have now with the dog boys isn’t coursing. It’s killing hares with dogs, and that breaches all of the sporting decency rules that I and I hope many on here hold dear to their hearts.

They are scum and have no place in the countryside and the sooner they are laid up in prison the better.
There has to be a way do disrupt them. Smoke grenades triggered by wires or trail cams with alerting alarms to a control group of whatever. But the police have to do their bit else they are willingly allowing criminals to perpetrate their crimes in open sight.

We are 35000 strong on here, so what if we all write to our police and crime commissioner asking for them to explain how they are trying to tackle this scourge of the countryside and what their response should be if called out.

The police are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. A couple of years ago, a telehandler was nicked from a local pig unit. It was tracked down to the local pi-key stronghold on the edge of the A47, the police refused to attend, a bunch of the local farmers all turned up en masse and recovered it themselves.
We had another cash machine ripped out of the local post office in the high street. No money is kept in them overnight, and the machine itself was found with the abandoned van or truck 17 miles away, crashed into a ditch. The cost to repair the damage will be thousands. The post office on the edge of the town, linked to the local Spar, cost nearly 150K to put the damage right, that was only last year.

I think the 5 out of 5 comps the pi-keys gamble on, and the fact that it appears to be livestreamed, is where it has all got out of hand.
I didn't mind match coursing with a single longdog run on one hare when I was keen on it, but it was all done at a lower level than appears to be the case now. It's out of hand. I had land I could run my own dogs on.
Craig Nuttall's dog Snowy was something else. He was a good trainer. It didn't matter if it was a horse dog or a bird, he could get it fit.

I have seen a FAC conditioned for "the shooting of animals for the protection of other animals".

What's wrong with killing hares with dogs?
Nothing that I can see.
It's certainly not unsporting.
I'd rather see that than a pack of hounds after a fox.
There's plenty of lurcher enthusiasts on this site.
