Snares to be banned in England ?

Maybe if they kept their dog on a lead it wouldn’t have been caught?

But if there was public foot paths that n the wood snaring it was a bloody stupid thing to do.

We never snared near public footpath, simply not worth the risk, every where else was snared tighter than a ducks arse!

They were on private land, dog off lead and out of control.
That's two issues.
The third is people. The third issue is two fold. People treating the country as a central London park and over population.

Basic remedies could range from 20' perimeter fencing of cities with manned gates. Sterilisation in cities and a requirement to give a good reason why someone from a city should own a dog!

Why do city dwellers even need to come to the countryside? They know bugger all about country ways. They mince about in the designer walking clobber, looking down their long, pointy noses, which they use to poke into our business. Best thing is for them to stay put in the Urban Jungle from whence they come.

A pair of them came into my local last night, down on their honeymoon, James and Gareth. They wanted "cocktails", the landlady, Babs was stumped as to what went into one of them. James had a smug look on his face when he told Babs what went into it.... Her putdown was "I never thought anyone wearing trousers would order a drink like that":rofl:

On the flip side of your argument , why should city dwellers pay lots of taxes that then go into subsidies to pay for single farm payments and all the other grants that fund the countryside.

City dwellers are also the principle customers of countryside businesses.

And in shooting it is those living and working in the cities that provide the bulk of the money that supports a lot of shooting activities.

M8 are you actually suggesting that just because someone comes from the city they should be barred in like cages animals and not allowed out in to the country side ..............
......yup sounds good I'm in !

I think its a bit harsh to suggest everyone in a city doesnt know how to behave in the countryside ...just the overwhelming majority

On a serious note though I do think its the minority who cause the issues and its the idiots and their behaviour that we remember. Dogs off lead and out of control, rubbish, parking on a freshly cleared silage field, objecting about shooting and on goes the list.

According to a comment above we should be grateful for the city folk for the money they bring to the countryside ... I agree ...but please do drive on the left hand side of the road and go more then 30 on a 60 road ...and yes you can drive round a corner more then 10 mph 💋

We've just had an example of this sort of driving,2 kids racing around single width roads at high speed. Came around a corner and met a very large John Deere with a corn trailer attached 🤣 estate worker in the tractor reckons they're better drivers than him because they got the BMW stopped before kissing the front weights.
Quite a long reversal till a passing place then on their way.

You also make a very good point - expect to meet someone going the same speed on a single track road :) oh and learn to reverse ..its not that difficult in a car lol

One of our neighbours lads liked to race about when he was young..ended up in a hedge with the car upside down. No damage to him and he calmed down after that

We get about 4 or5 RTA's with fallow a year on one road a fairly wide lane. Seeing some of the idiots doing 60+ regularly pass me pottering along at 35 ish. I only hope the damage to their cars costs a lot to repair. One evening I had to go despatch an animal not far from an S bend, the speed some came through there was scary, being stood in the road with a gun. I await one of them being impaled on a front loader, it will happen. Generally people who work in town but go to their large village homes every evening in their BMW ot Rangy rover.
