Well I took myself out this morning for a look around. I didn't see any deer but it was a lovely morning and so I stuck up my dot of doom:
I then retired to my firing point at a measured, by the laser, 100 yards. To be honest I didn't think I'd get a suitable spot at exactly 100 yards as the track has little rises and dips and you can't see the target from the dips. However, I got lucky and could just about see the target when I lay down at exactly 100 yards:
Then I loaded up and put three shots into the target and, I must confess, the group wasn't great but here it is in its glory:
This was shot with Nosler Partitions using my 308 Win with an 8X56 S&B on top, I only have one rifle so this is my standard deer setup and load and there were no "fouling shots" or anything else so you can ignore the other holes in the backing board.
As some people were also shooting off sticks I fired another 3 from the sticks. I guess these ones don't really count for the purposes of our experiment as I'd had the three prone shots before them to get warmed up a little and get a feel for the target but here they are anyhow:
