What a lovely surprise walked in from work tonight to find a Rm card on the doormat straight down to the post office as curiosity got the better of me and hey presto it was my portfolio back from Bds telling me I had passed, feels great to have achieved.
Many thanks to 6pointer for his time and for allowing me to come to his ground for the stalks and witnessing, great bloke couldn't recommend him highly enough.
Many thanks Davie

Congrats mate and you were easy to witness just a pity you never had that big buck for the ICR 2 .

Clean and tidy

Well done! That's a long way to travel for a level 2!

Deerman no one comes to me to do there lev2 that is the first thing i state. They come to me to go out deer stalking and if they are LUCKY and shoot a deer while here they could get a ICR signed off.
ps i dont do half signs eg one page or half a page with out a deer shot just my thing. I am sure they come for the scottish brakefast lol

In that case you are working outside of the terms of your contract with DMQ

Firstly, congratulations Pierre - well done on getting through your portfolio. :)

I understand where 6Pt is coming from on this one - irrespective of the 'terms of his contract' the fact is, he is witnessing someone who considers themself an experienced stalker. Three completed ICRs and our hairy hunter is potentially due to receive his DSC2 qualification.

For example, our 'experienced' stalker bumbles through the stalk, then screws up the shot & gut shoots a deer. He claims a partial, before shooting a further animal cleanly, rested off a high-seat on another occasion. This would be sufficient evidence of ability to qualify as a completed ICR.

Do we really feel this hunter is actually performing at DSC2 level - or does a 'pass' make a mockery of the qualification?

You decide for yourself, I know what I expect from a 'DSC2'certified hunter.

Rgds

Ian so a stalker stalks, shoots, calls the shot placement/reaction, does the gralloch perfectly, but when questioned (PC 4.6) about the records he or she keeps they tell you they don't keep any. Do you sign up everything except 4.6 or nothing. Each PC is separate for a reason.

Would the candidate fail if they don't complete 4.6 ??

Well done peirred what 6p is saying I think is he wouldn' want to fill 1/2 page in just for someone doing a stalk and no shot so couldn't fill in all the elements in the icr.when I did mine for one reason or another I stalked into deer and couldn't get a shot but did not fill in any of the portfolio.thats what I think Davies on about
Cheers tom

It is an 'assessment' based on satisfactory completion of all performance criteria (PC's). The PC's can however be completed seperately and don't have to all be done on just one stalk. How a particular AW manages that is up to them, but if a candidate has paid up front for an AW to carry out a DSC2 stalk, then he should be entitled to have any PC's stisfactorily completed signed off whether he has culled an animal or not. PC 4.6 must be completed to satisfaction as must all of them. It is a legal requirement to retain accurate cull records for deer entering the food chain.
