Nightforce scopes

Is there anybody in reasonable distance of newbury with a nightforce scope. I am interested in trying it with my night vision. The search for the perfect scope to use with night vision goes on.
I would be interested in trying an S&B as well but it must have side parallax. And I sure as hell ain't gonna buy one to find out it isn't as good as my 10 year old AGS. Mind you at the price of them I'm not sure if I would buy one anyway. Lol.
I am open to option of other scopes to try. I use an archer by the way.
I have tried sidewinders, ok but not great.
Meopta, no good, shame as I really rate them as a Hunting scope.
Leupold, very good compromise between day and night.
OLd AGS. Best with NV so far but lower quality day optics.
Zeiss Conquest, nope, great hunting scope but not with night vision.

on my ns200 i had i ran an ags and a nightforce.ags won on pic quality and the nightforce was a pain to use the mag range as it moved the camera when i zoomed.i rate nightforce for target work but nightvision i would stick with ags.

I can overcome the movement with a bracket that clamps on to the body not the eyebell. But your comment re the AGS being better is interesting. What scopes in particular were they?

Nightforce are fine with NV, provided you can get round the whole eyepiece moving - I run a 5.5-22x56 on my 22.250. A Swarovski Z6 is also a good bet, in my case a 2.5-15x56 - works very nicely indeed. Finally, many claim good things from a Bushnell Elite 6500 - 2.5-15x50 when it comes to NV - I think the P/X adjusts closer than the other two. I may be laying my hands on an S&B PMII 3-12x50 shortly that might be an interesting proposition for this sort of thing as well.

The leup and Elite are the 2 that starlight recommend. I haven't tried the bushnell but have 2 Leups.
I was in Wales Friday foxing and we spotted one at 265 yards. Now I was using my nightmaster illuminator and couldn't see him and we had to use the lamp instead. My battery had gone on my firefly so I am interested in the distances you can reliably shoot to with your unit.

A mate of mine in Selby uses my old conquest 4.5/14x44, with a pvs 14, works very very well and has taken charlies out to 250 with ease.(on a rem vssf 22.250)

not a fan of sh*tforce scopes and Bushnell don't ring my bell either but there you go,

ps: last time i used a NV set up was about 2 weeks ago (the one above) and it was cracking, but im no fan of nv as i can't afford one.

I use a z6i with my archer and thats fine, not as good as you can get with a cheaper scope but the nm800 makes it usable to a good 200 yards. Ok fitting it with the illumination controls involved taking an angle grinder to the scope attachment but it fits and works. The alternative compromise would have been a different scope and I really didn't want to go down the route of a leupold after having a z6i

​this works very well with the archer. As does my pm2. Nightforce work ok. I had a leupold which was rubbish in comparason, the 4.5-14x 50 that starlight reccomend too.

Just spotted your comment. Unfortunately with it being front pa that would drive me nuts.
i am leaning towards a Z6i. Dunno why cos I have never looked through one. But a few people have made good comments aside from ETR.
​S&B seem to be stupidly expensive unless I am looking at the wrong ones.

Not sure why the front px would be an issue, once set up theres no need to touch it. Better being out the way than on the side imo. Im sure the illumination controls on the z6i would be a problem

Most people with night vision prefer side parallax. It is hard to set the distance in the dark without looking down the scope and as I walk most of my permissions the target can be anywhere from 50 to 150 yards.
i had front parallax before and it was a pain. Unless you have orangutan arms.
and yes you could not use the archer bracket with the z6i. But I designed my own bracket that overcomes the problem and gets me closer to the barrel. Bit of a bodge but seems to work well.

Im not sure what your setup is but with the swaro/archer i have i just set the px once and dont touch it again, find it better being up front and out the way. Perhaps cheaper scopes suffer from this. Julian told me expensive scopes have ir filter coatings on the lenses which stop the archer working, that has not been my finding at all

Yes I have had the same conversation with him as well. Then I chat to a few of the guys on the nv forum and they have taken long shots with swaros. I have the leupolds at the moment, 4-14 but would like a bit more mag. Something up to 18 times. I moved an old AGS on to the 223 because it does provide a better image but I an not cconvinced that it will be as accurate ie poi move when you change mag. well it was a cheap scope and off on its own it can white out is not so good at high mag.

so I am looking for the best compromise.
i definitely twiddle the parallax to get the best image.

what I want to do is go to the show and talk to a few of the higher end makers to see if they would be interested in testing their units with NV to see which would be their best scope to recommend because I use an archer and my mate uses a nitesite and I have access to fox targets that could be placed out over long distances.

It would be nice to get some objective testing done because there are 3 questions asked by any newbie into nv.

I use a bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16 x 42 and I can't recommend it highly enough! It can focus down to ten yards and gives a crystal clear picture through my Archer NV. Its also reliable enough to dial for long shots and return to zero every time. Very happy with it. I am having a good run at the moment. Tonight I shot my twentieth fox since the last miss ... although I'm sure everyone else shoots perfectly all the time, my (foxing) average seems to run about 90% taken over the whole year. Having your target in perfect focus definately helps.

I got the Mildot, although in around a year of stalking, foxing and varminting with it I can honestly say that I've never used the mil dots. But they're there if I ever decide to. The fine cross hair is still easily visible trhough the NV

I have an archer on a NXS 3.5-15x50 and find it outstanding, I used to have it on a leupold as recommended by starlight but find the nightforce a lot better. We have a Z6i at work and a pmii but I've never felt the need to try them as the nightforce is plenty good enough for me. Most of my work is from a defender with a roof mounted lightforce then switch off and use the nv, I've taken 32 foxes at work since feb and several others nearby with that setup combined with sitting out on an evening.

hi bud i used the 5x15x56with my pvs14 total pants onley good on 5 mag ags 8x32x56 is a good scope with night vision i now use sightron s3 6x24x50 good up to 10mag on the right night with lazer iluminator the more you spend the more coatings on the scope and the less ir light that gets throe to the night vision thats why your ags is so good with your unit like yourself i have used most scopes out there ags was the best with ad on unit

Yip thats why i have a ags 4x16x56 tried many a scope but yet to find one that is better.

We tried many many scopes with 3 different envis's and found the IOR 6-24x56 beat everything for a foxing rig and a Falcon mence for a 17hmr due to it focusing closer.
