It was the rifle in the post (Sauer) and it shot as I expected it to.
The rifle was shot two weeks ago, by me and it shot perfectly well - or as well as any factory rifle does.
The groups were witnessed.
I was asked independently to shoot the rifle.
Ive nothing to do with any importer or with any other person who has shot the rifle.
The post was started by a well meaning, interested third party, who was not the owner of the gun.
Personally, I don't think that the thread had a place on here until such time as there WAS a service or reliability issue which was not dealt with satisfactorily.
I can't comment on the findings of others, however, I can comment on my own personal experience of the rifle.
With bipod and rear bag it was easily shooting sub MOA groups at 100 yards - that's with factory 100 grain ammunition - that was witnessed.
With home loads, it would probably shoot half MOA
As a deer stalking rifle the accuracy is perfectly acceptable.
If the rifle was a custom build for the same price, I would expect a lot better accuracy - sub half MOA, but it isnt, its a factory, mass produced rifle, albeit a pretty one.....
Surely no one is struggling to shoot a 3" group if the rifle groups sub inch though?? muhammad Ali with michael J fox sitting on his back should be able to do that with a sauer at 100 yards!

Obviously nothing wrong with the rifle.
Not surprising how these threads get out of hand. What an eye opener.
Hang on a minute, on the basis that Garlands ALSO tested the rifle, and changed scopes, got Redmist to independently test it, and then gave the guy his money back, your comments are somewhat unfair !
Something clear was wrong, even though it appears to have been resolved now !
Mark.
Jon,
If it, or an associated part wasn't defective in some way, why couldn't Garlands get it to shoot better than 2.5" ? Unless they don't have a clue what they're doing, and it's unlikely they would admit to that !
So, if they couldn't get it to shoot, something, somewhere was clearly wrong. Now, it may have been a very simple over site, but it's hardly reasonable to suggest the was nothing wrong, or maybe imply the owner/OP were wrong to seek advice on the forum.
For all we know, the barrel could have been re-crowned, who knows ?
However, IMHO, the time to have offered the customer his money back, was at the time Garland tested the rifle, and it still shot 2.5" groups. Had the owner been shown it could shoot sub MOA groups, he may well have kept it, although sometimes these situations just leave a bad taste in the mouth.
Anyway, it's sorted............................
I didn't want say who tested the because its his choice to put his opinion forward and not be put on the spot.Is it sorted ? seams more like everyone has had a Garlands/Sauer bashing session.
Your assuming the OP was correct ? Strange he never mentioned REDMIST could group it !
