Swanndri

Yes they get wet but Swannis stay warm. Bruce Potts is a big fan and had to be prised out of his for his wedding day.

Original bush shirt is the one mate. Wish I'd had one years ago.

swandri

me and my son have about 6 of them and used to wear nothing else they are very hard wearing and warm but do let water after a real soaker of a day . I wear one beating most of the time as they seem indistuctable and last for ever but i have 2 that the arms worn through caused by crawling through heather and other crap stalking in the highlands . If the price is right go for it my first one cost about 30£ i think well worth it

I have one I wear in winter but, it's the ranger extreme with hydrotex lining so doesn't let any water in.

Very well made and pretty much indestructable but I can only wear it when it's really cold as it's so warm.

I bought from swandri direct but, it may cost you a tenner in customs duty.

Don't treat it with anything. It'll let in some water until the fibres expand - so it'll remain dampish but very warm.

If you watch the Australian/NZ auction sites, you'll occassionally see unissued Swandri army shirts and jackets. They're in DPM but the same patterns and materials as those sold to civvies.

Swanni no longer supply the N.Z army, the Chinese supply them now ! their getting in everywhere
They have laid off aload of staff.
We see the owner at the local Ag show, he likes to meet people and chat and likes to see whats happening at the shows.

swazi & sandri are seperate companies.

Swandri's are great, they are tried and tested by the kiwis and have been proven kit for years, I've had bush & ranger shirts for years, I picked up a Merino wool smock a few years ago in NZ, it's absolutely brilliant .

evil bay have a few new swandri's at pretty good prices although I've never bought from there.

Ebay had one less as of monday last  Still waiting for it though :(

I can vouch for the toughness of Swanndris. I used to wear one a lot when handling deer, nice protection, stops them sticking their feet in your pockets and then running away. Mine was pretty badly ripped by fallow deer but i kept on wearing until one day when I was driving a 360 excavator levelling a site for a deer handling building. Went to jump out of machine, torn bit of swanni hooked over slew lever which started the machine spinning while I was hanging from the lever. Realising I had only less than half a revolution to go before being chopped in half I just managed to get my feet up against the cab floor and pushed away hard till the Swanni finally came to bits and I hit the deck.
Sorry to lose the Swanni but happy to save my life!

True. It was a few years ago now. Elf an safety are slowly taking all the fun out of everything we do. Even my little Kubota has the small lever that doesn't want to let you in the cab until you promise to be good.

Cyber - are you related to my wife? She has smacked each and every car we have ever owned, managed to drop the hired mini digger down a pit i was digging for the septic tank (i only wanted a little shot she said!) and only the other night she managed to smash her windscreen by driving into a carpark barrier - claims she didn't see the bright white and red barrier ???

No, not related but I do know her quite well

I suppose over the years I have had some very close shaves. As far as I know I am the only person to have been through a forage wagon and come out alive and have had a quad bike written off by a stag while I was on it. Somebody somewhere must have a plan for me.

Scotsgun,
I hope you took the above post in the spirit in which it was intended. However if I have offended I apologise unreservedly.

lol..relax mate..........my skins' alot thicker than that ;)

Incidentally - you can bloody well have her as i can't afford her - rather her continual mishaps.

Bloody repair garage knows me by name and sends a calendar at xmas!

Swanndris

We stopped selling Swanndri a few years ago because of quality and supply issues. As far as we are aware they are now made in China and were bought out by a fashion house.
We now sell our own brand, from customer feed back it's ten times better and completely made in The UK.

washing your swanndri

NO DO NOT USE NIKE WAX,

HERE ARE SOME INSTRUCTION FOR WASHING:

look for a washing agent that contain lanoline this is wool vet,
Use hand warm water.
wash it gently and than lay it down on a towel and not hang it it will change it shape, other tip if it looks like a worn dead critter leave it over night in the snow and it will look great again.

Mine in fine being machine washed on a wool setting and drying as per all my other garb.....never had any issues, no need for leaving it it he snow overnight either.........
