L200 mpg

I must admit to looking at the MPG in all my cars i do 50.000+ a year and i think it is important to keep the emissions down. Caring about your carbon footprint is very important. So much so that the FC and SNH are paying particular attention to MPG. SHAME THERE STAFF DON'T FEEL THE SAME

I actually think that if your worried about the MPG a vehicle does, you can't afford it.

Although it is a factor in determining choice. If you want a truck and they all do pretty much the same job, why get one that only does 20mpg if you can get another that does 30?

Go and grind your foolish axe elsewhere:-D

mine was averaging 28mpg, id get 370 miles out of a tank i had mud terrains on it and it was used to commute to work and around farm and towing
forgot to had mine also had a mitsubishi ralliart chip on it and that brought it up from 25 mpg mine was a 2007 club cab

My 2011 L200 Warrior averages 32 and it has the bigger, 170bhp engine. On a 'fast' run down the motorway that will drop to 26 or 27. At the moment I am being compelled to average fifty miles an hour most of the 25 mile journey from my home to the office in Leeds because of speed restrictions on the M1 and this morning the gauge was reading 40.1; I was impressed...but I couldn't drive at that speed all the time!

al with that statement you are either rolling in money or a fool but they do say a fool and his money are easley parted,i travel 280 mile round trip to stalk so if i can get another 5+ miles per gallon i will take it.....that does not mean i cant afford it just means iam using my brain as you may be should have done before you typed that.all the best mick

My old L200 was crap I struggled to get 26 mpg I now have a Hilux Invincible which I can get between 35 to 38 mpg this is calculated by filling the tank up till it overflows use it till its empty fill it up till it overflows again work out the cost per gallon to get the exact amount used then work out mpg. Happy with my results.:-P

Just to point out the other end of the spectrum I delivered 2 red stags yesterday, 400 mile round trip with a Ford Ranger tipper and tri-axle 14 foot livestock trailer. Mostly between 60-70 mph. Fuel consumption was 18.9 mpg calculated from mileometer and fuel bills. I always zero trip meter when refuelling and write the mileage on the receipt. Even if it had an onboard computer I would not believe it. All vehicles that I have had, including a Land Cruiser 4 litre were about 18 mpg towing a livestock trailer. I think it is simple physics due to the weight and shape, i.e. very big brick. The ranger does about 30mpg normally.

I think it's fair to say that a lot of people err on the side of generosity whether it's MPG, the distance they shoot at, how deep the snow is where they live in winter or how hot the sun is in summer but there also some people who can give an accurate answer to a given question so probably best not doubt everyone at first glance.

The above members have given reasonable answers and also not over inflated the figures. Words like 'roughly' and 'between x and x' are perfectly acceptable as it gives a general guide, not an over generous 'guaranteed to do xx' figure.

MPG is subjective and it depends alot on how you drive, the maintenance of the vehicle, the tyres you use, the roads and distance you travel, the traffic conditions and even the fuel etc.

For example my Navara on 80/20 tyres is currently sat on 35.8mpg on a daily 20 mile round trip to work but it has done 61.6 for a short distance after filling up in Salisbury and following a tractor a couple of miles to Wilton.
I always use Shell or BP diesel where I can as it gives better MPG and I believe is better for the engine (less smoke). I average between 35-38mpg with this fuel yet when I stuck Esso in a couple of weeks ago I struggled to get 33mpg.

And the above figures were taken from the screen in the dashboard............

seriously that is amazing. My Nav is 56 plate ok i got BFG ATsn on and the best i get is 28 and that is using an app as i have found on board computer is 2mpg out. Is your truck chipped or had a re map.
