Looking to replace my old k74 l200 but not sure what to go for im to scared of rot on the Hilux I know navaras snap but they seem reliable. Also scaredof wet belts on rangers were the 2.2 any better? D-max are quite pricey as there doesnt seem many for sale . Just looking for first hand experience

I am currently using a 2007 Nissan Navara. Had it for coming up for 2 years and only had minimal issues which I would expect with the age. Sitting on just over 140k miles. Averaging around 25mpg but it does me for what I need.

I paid just under £10k for my 17 plate D-max, with 80k miles on the clock. Its now at 150k miles.
It's the smaller engined model (1.9), and none the worse for that. In fact, it's the first vehicle I've ever had that'll pull a full 3.5 tonnes up our farm track without losing traction at any point. (Previous vehicles include 3x LR Discoveries and 3x L200s)
I have only had one significant repair cost during my period of ownership so far.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the 1.9 Dmax.

Here's one similar, which is also quite reasonably priced:

This is the kind of info I after thanks

I’d be very careful of the 2.2/3.2 Ranger and speak from experience. I had a 2013 until July when then oil pump failed at 90k and killed the engine. I liked it until that point, but it rendered it scrap in no time at all.

My view would be L200/Dmax/Hilux but finding a good Hilux for <£10k may be difficult as they’re usually a few more thousand than the alternatives at the same level.

A friend has a 2.5 Dmax and has used it extensively, seems a solid truck. It’s what I was going to get as a replacement for the Ranger right until I found a very good deal on a Hilux.

just traded in my Navara D40 mk2, lovely vehicle 87k miles, but back half of the chassis was rusting for England! If you are thinking of buying one put an endoscope into the box section, they rust from the inside out!
