The Shooting Show (Youtube)

That was exciting, i dont think there is a cameraman though, all the camera shots are fixed and obviously shot from a tripod, no moving shots. Still not a good demonstration though. I think they could have spared a second to show him making the rifle safe before crossing the fence, even if it was unloaded when he did it as he was shown to load the rifle at the start of the stalk.

I'm pretty sure that Byron Pace is the cameraman on The Shooting Show - static or not, he'd have been the other side of the lens...

He's not always the cameraman though. James Marchington does some filming as well. He filmed me and a group of mates shooting over pointers with our muzzle loaders last year in Norfolk. In fact if you watch the news bit in tonight's film, I'm the short bloke with the Elmer Fudd type had standing in the middle of the group. :)

Just watched it. Guy crosses two fences without unloading, the second time when he bends down the muzzle is pointing straight at the cameraman.

I predicted to my self that would happen, to much detail in showing off the products and you loose sight off the most important thing....
Safe handling of the gun...

What a load of rubbish!

When you make comment make sure you have ALL the facts, as my good lady always says when you "assume" it make an Ass Out Of You And Me.

There is no one behind the camera, SW does it all by remote in his hand! The gun is NEVER loaded when he is filming.FACT!
So if you take away those Two FACTS have you got any other comments to make?

To my eyes it looks like self filmed video so he probably does not point to anyone.

Ok you mean he dosnt point at any body just by the camera or in the massive swinging arc

how about several miles behind maybe a mountain maybe a school or Tescos carpark

only way to be sure is to Unload if the gun is pointing up ever but then again up is up down is safe

same people who says its fin to point at the sky and not know where a ND will land will have a head fit if you scan with the rifle quoting no safe back stop lol

Can you not read? "the gun is unloaded".

Even if it is, which is more than likely i agree. He was shown to load the rifle at the start of the stalk so we, the gullible viewing public, are lead to believe that it is loaded at all times. If they can show him loading with 'Geco .243 105gr ammo' then surely they could spare literally a second to show him unloading or opening the bolt, even if it is purely for show?

To an onlooker there is a problem, yes its been disclosed the chamber is empty and there is no cameraman but the problem is, as this thread has shown, the joe public does not know that. little forward thought saves the argument.

No doubt the gun is unloaded. Perhaps a few seconds showing him unloading or a comment in the narrative would make the point, but on the other hand, it isn't meant as a safety video and obviously the piece has to be cut to a certain length, so that would be surplus to requirements.

Chill out folks, go and have a cup of tea, but don't point that boiled kettle at anyone. :)

The gun was certainly loaded while he walked out the downed deer, and dragged the carcass back to the edge of the field as it clearly shows him
removing a round from the chamber and dumping the magazine contents as he arrives back at the fence line.
(it also showed him reloading post shot, and before the walk out there)

Neil. :)

yes I can read but there is no Written wording in the Video to read

and I never believe any thing written by the "News of the World" or any of the gutter press

regardless Im in the camp a loaded gun pointing straight up is never safe whether walking a flat field or crossing a fence so at 11:40 loading gun put on shoulder is not safe from there on IMO (yes you can disagree I wont change my mind ) and i don't see an unload or a Readable mention of it.

this is written if you read it it must be true

The 308 is in the power range of the classic full power military cartridges. These cartridges have a max range of around 12 to 13 miles under the conditions you list.

The Brits once tried to use rifles at these ranges, for an effect they called plunging or volley fire. Some examples of the #1 Mk 3 and the P14 have dial sights on the left side for this purpose. Take a look at the sights on the left side of this P14, they are graduated to 28,000 yards.

right, what is unsafe? Ok so not PC best practice whether explained or demonstrated when crossing the fence but certainly not unsafe, too many assumptions from people who were not there. It far more dangerous walking on challenging uneven ground with a loaded rifle than crossing a simple obstacle. I was more bothered with his general craft and how the deer was stood before the shot!

Right! Looking forward to watching this as I normally save this and the Field Sports Channel for an opportune moment on a Friday but may have to watch it tonight.

A picture paints a thousand words.....and the habit of climbing over a fence is a practiced one because that is the way he does it...
AND STOP SHOUTING lol:stir:

That part of the video just points out the way he carries his rifle and how easy it is to poke it up the nose of some one else...

That is a fact....

For the rest..... It is a matter of faith....
