Seriously? Scotland's major financial institutions shifting HQ and the associated power base to England is ok and nothing to worry about ? Jobs follow the centre of power..ever was it thus. Let's just effectively neuter on of our major business streams for some undefinable belief that politicians in holyrood are any more interested in anything but themselves over Westminster.

Seriously? Yes! If you want to know about the behind the scenes manoeuvrings in Scotland's banking sector you need to know the right people to talk to. I can't help you there, if you don't know who they are, but if you do want a helpful tip, you might want to consider moving your banking to the Airdrie Savings Bank, if you've not already done so. That's one place a lot of the smart money has already gone.

Good article.
Would any Yes voters care to fill in the answers ?.

Re postage and carrier costs.. Couriers have confirmed that they will "review and probably increase charges in the event of a Yes vote"
Any yes voters here who order stuff off eBay amazon etc etc care to comment?.

Or is it all going to go strangely quiet on the Yes front ??.

Still no answers guy's ?
Pensions postage and parcels...off you go :)

PS...while you are about it,comments on the Weir group report would be most welcome.

passports , driving licences ,council tax DWP operations , SNHS ? Won't have any military to speak of - ceremonial for Wee eck and cronies maybe ? When the nasty Russian Bears overfly us who's going to challenge them ? Wee Eck in his biplane ? Fishing ? Ha ! Scottish waters will finish 12 miles offshore , everything else is the Euro sea - no licences as we won't be in Europe . Come on YES voters , lets have some real answers and less lying blether , no more bull**** " it'll be all right -- honest it will " rubbish from the fishy bunch at the Scottish Nazi Party.

The last paragraph is interesting. As an example most people in some areas ie Corby are Scots or of Scots descent and so would have to go. I am afraid however that it won't work like that although they should not have the right to stay (and neither would ours North of the Border). If the vote is yes "Slippery Dave" and the rest of British MP's will bend over backwards to aid an independent Scotland in every way and they eventually will get EU membership, although hopefully by then we will be out. I hope in many ways it is a yes vote because then and only then will folk realise how you can so easily be conned.
You obviously have no idea of how UK politics have been dominated for years by Scottish politicians. A quick check of constituency demographics will show that each Scottish MP represents about 55,000 individuals while in England it is about 77,000. How's that for a real democratic deficit - without the ever present West Lothian question? At an individual level no vote really counts. Imagine being a true blue Tory in somewhere like Merthyr Tydfil, or a die hard socialist in Reigate? Both effectively disenfranchised by virtue of where they live. Not ideal, but the democratic system we have.

I'll tell you what is really undemocratic - the fact that a minority bunch of selfish blowhards want to destroy a political entity to the detriment of tens of millions of people - who, coincidentally, have been denied any say in the matter. Please spare us the lazy rhetoric about 'a proper democracy'.

What I'd really like to know is, if there is a Yes vote, what will happen to all the Scots folk living in England and Wales, who will then be foreigners and not part of the EU, so with no right of abode? Presumably, they'll all have to get work permits or face deportation? Or will they have to decide to become (heaven forbid!) some sort of faux-Englishman? I suppose, in the interests of equality, we'd have to ask the Welsh Assembly if they'd take a quota and make them faux-Welshmen?

Bearing in mind that the political agenda of the SNP has always been for an independent Scotland it is absolutely no surprise that having been elected to Government we are facing 18 Sept. So here is a question for the better together camp. If Scotland has always been better together how have we got to this point in history. Surely if it was evident that we were living in a better together land the SNP would never have got to this position.

The Scots have invented almost every usefull thing that benefited mankind and if we start charging "royalties" Engerlund would go broke in a week.
This vote is way bigger than the SNP and if a Yes vote prevails all the 48 Scottish MP's will come back here and that will doom the two countries and province to have a Conservative government FOREVER.
You can keep Boris and we will keep our god given assets.

I blame that piece of Hollywood pish Bravefart , that and the belief that Scots are due a better deal --- oh wait - we do don't we ?

Waterford103 I think its the distribution of wealth that upsets quite a few mate. The way the south of England control and keep all the cash. All the bankers paying them selves great big bonuses even when they have failed. But hey that's ok because its England. Sadly we have reached this position because of the greed of our southern friends the ones we placed our trust and our money in.

Look at the average wage in London and then place it over the average wage in Glasgow you might just get a wee fright

And RBS wasn't involved in that were they - of course not , and G Brown isn't a Scotsman ??

Why? the desire for independence has been growing since the 1920s at least, when the Nationalist party's were formed, long before a little Australian strutted across the big screen, do you really thing the Scots are naive enough to be influenced by a film.

If you believe that you nothing of the Scots mentality.

Just a thought, almost every country around the world under British rule has gone for independence , I would suggest that says more about the head of the house than it does about them.

You clearly don't understand the concept of "tongue in cheek " do you ? Anyway , my vote is cast , what happens next happens . If it's yes and we enjoy a Salmond Utopia I shall hold up my hand and admit I was wrong , if it turns to doodoo ( can't say ***** on here ) will the yes voters do the same ?

Exactly don't think all the ranting will change anyone's mind, would think most know which way they are going to go by now, and what will be will be that's democracy, the will of the people, and that's how it should be

What really annoys me is the rubbish, half truths and down right lies told by both camps but that's politics I suppose.

Most of the working class yes voters that I know have romanticised ideas of how Scotland will be and can quote braveheart word for word. It absolutely inspires them.

That's why they've given kids of 16 the vote too. It's because they're easily manipulated. I guarantee that braveheart will be on tv on the 17th September.

Threads like this wish i never even bothered.

There is so much BS on both sides but each side thinks there own brand of BS smells of roses.

A lot of the questions just cannot be answered as it will stil to e decieded depending on which way the vote goes, westminster/whitehall cannae be seen to be dealing away all the goodies afore they know if they actually need too.

And as for residents of Corby or other 2nd generation scots born in England being sent 'home' if u said a similar statement about any other skin colur/religion or nationality u would be up on racism charges.
Can/do members of almost every other commonwealth country serve in the UK's armed forces, but scots won't be allowed??

I have no idea wot will happen or how close the vote will be, and it is an absolute scandal that their is not more realible impartial info out there, for every report saying 1 thing there is an exact oppisate report stating the exact oppisate,(usually published the next day too) seems all these academics/think tanks can only 'think' as far as who is paying there wages. A total disgrace no better than politicains with there nose in the trough

I have a mate who was actually head hunted to work for the NO campign and he is still voteing Yes, althou he appreciates the massive flaws/holes in the Yes campign more now thou, but he is still voting yes. He is involved in big business in the city and plenty of them are also voting Yes, so not just numpties in face paint
The problem isn't actualy independence its the uncertainty that this referendum has caused and if yes how long it will take to sort everything out afterwards.
Working for a foriegn company isnae really a problem nowadays, it's the uncertainty over tax, currency that may push some away

End of the day if u turned things on there heads how many would vote to be governed by a government 400miles away?

I can't stand 'king eck' or most of his policies (esp about the countryside/agri/shooting) and i'm probably more of a right wing voter coming from the only tory mp in scotlands area, but its not a vote for Salmond or the SNP its a vote for scotland running ts own affairs independently.
At moment yes with devo or 'devo-max' scotland can still chose how it spends a lot of its money, but is that any different to giving a kid his pocket money?
He can spend it how he wants too but it can be stopped or reduced at any time.
Does any scot really want Borris Johnston in charge of ur 'pocket money'?

End of day the question is should scotland be independent? Not wether we will be better of or turn into the land of milk and honey overnight.
But a massive ammount of folk will bottle it when they get in the box and they might feel scotland should be independent but are scared because of the uncertanties which exactly wot london wants, and why they won't get involved in any answers to some of the big questions

Waterford103 by his footnote obviously favours the ultimate dictator Adolf Hitler that is why his postal vote was a NO vote in favour of war mongering Westminster wine bar boys.

I was thinking more along the lines of pish.

"End of the day the question is should Scotland be independent" ?

Yeah..never mind the defence jobs lost..the interest rates up..postage and carrier rates up and years of chaos.
It's amazing what some folk will sacrifice on the altar of "independence".
