Finch;845305 You remind me of a 16 year old kid I knew from Kelso. He was opposed to wind turbines because he thought the English could steal the airborne electricity said:
We know that's silly, how can you steal something that's airborne, however he was not as stupid as the people who tried it.

In fact it caused a real fuss up here, it even coined a phrase , most often heard in the West Highlands.

Said when some one attempts an impossible task

" AYE HE WAS TRYING TO CATCH THE WIND IN A BLANKET "

I listened to some sixteen year olds on the local telly last night,.............. HHHMMNnnn! not sure I'd want my future swinging on them,..., Anyhow, an independent state should not be DE- pendent on another states currency.

So most of europe are no longer independent states???

So most of europe are no longer independent states???

Got it CB

They all dance to Brussels tune.
Except Germany...who writes it.

Want to be one of the smallest dancers?...might get your toes tramped.

ps... You still buying the big hoose from wee eck ?.
He still doesn't have many answers to the questions about it.
Still time to change your mind.

Thanks, just added to my list of things that characterise Yes voters...

Assumes Victim status at the drop of a hat.
Has a scary capacity for delusion, denial and displacement of blame.

:)

PF u really are well named as every post of ur's realtes to us "we're doomed"

The few yes votes that can be bothered to actualy post anymore i doubt come into any of ur categories and i doubt many run about in kilts all day ith there face painted blue.

And far from sticking our head in the sand, as has been stated many times most of us can't stand salmond so are not baffled by his BS.
In fact far from the yes voters sticking there head in the sand it sems more urself and the no vters sticking ur head in the sand.
Have u even bothered to have a quick look throu that september18.com site yet?? Or do u already know it all already??

Must admit i find ur posts prety repative and patronising throu out this thread.
I probably am a Yes voter but my mind (unlike yours is still open) i have watched more politics shows than ever in my life (which wouldnae be hard;)) and have always thought the yes team seem to handle it better, even on about NATO and the nukes (and i dinae have a problem with trident) the NP boy made george robertson look a bit off a fool and blew holes in his argument.
The simple fact is most of the truths u are spouting as gospel are not quite so gospel and baised by the No camp, just as the lttle facts the yes camp have came up with are baised in there favour
If salmond came out yonks ago and dropped this currency sharing idea i think it would help and jst went for our own currency.

This vote could probably make more difference to me than many as i have invested every penny (and then some) i have in my dream building site/bit of land out in the country , so i have remortged my house, got it to sell in the near future as well as building my new 1.
The last thing i need is for any uncertainity (which is a given) and any drop in property prices coupled with dearer mortgages (entirely possible if not also a given) will not be good for me.
But even with all that and my eyes well and truely open, i still keep geting drawn to a Yes vote, as it is not about me but future generations. U could probably call me being selfish if i voted no just to get a cheaper mortgage

As for this famous scottish hatred of the english etc there definately seems to be far more hostility aimed at the yes voters than any flying the other way. But then again mibee i'm misreading some of the posts due to my blue facepaint running into my tatan tinted specs :-P

If my mind is changed (and there is still time) it will not be anything u have written or linked too. Most of wot u right convinces me even more of a Yes vote, u sound like a broken record, and not even stuck on a decent tune
I will work throu some unbaised info and not the drivel spouted by both yes and no camps, my eyes ae open and ken both sides are full of sh**e not just the 1 side the way u tend to believe. U probably think mr darlings farts smell of roses

Ooooh, sense of humour failure, I'll add that to the list :)

You guys are looking to drag us all, both sides of the border, back into recession and you get whiney we we have a go about it.
It's called banter by the way...deal with it.

Re " we're all doomed" ?

So you Have checked the links that I....and others...have posted?
Good.
Have another look at the one Elmer Fudd posted... "it's a cracker" :)

Any links to help me see the light ?.

To assist reasonable informed debate - About | Scotland September 18
which is really what this should all be about .

if anyone can show me in 10 lines of text the simple maths as to how they expect to balance the books I will gladly vote yes.

cost of change management alone for rebranding, restructuring and admin change for just some of the government bodies has been estimated at £100 Billion over the next 5 years.
and we all know what happens to budgets and estimates!!
(Do we even have £100 Billion?)

that does not even scratch the surface of currency and defence, power and infrastructure
That is JUST for government bodies

some history for the rose tinted

Scottish Parliament
estimates and costs-
1997 - £40m
1998 - £55m
1999 - £109m
2001 - £241m
2002 - £300m
2003 - £400m
2004 - £430m
2007 - £414m and they had the fecking gall to try and pass this off and a bloody £16m saving!!

Edinburgh Tram - budget £375m in 2003, actual cost in 2008 £521 million. Total cost after build and interest payments over £1 billion
and it is only half as long as originally planned.and its bloody empty most of the time!

New Fourth Road Bridge (2700m or 1.7m
2007 - £4.2 Billion estimate
christ on a bike knows what it will finally cost. My guess is at least double
in fact I will be fecking delighted if they can keep costs down to less than half the estimate!
it is the most expensive bridge in the world!!

compare this to the following:
Danyang-Kushan - longest in world at 164,000m - £5.2B
Tianjin Grand - 2nd longest at 113,000m £5Bn

lets come out of china and go to the US
John James Audubon Bridge - 4,000m 2nd longest cable stayed span - £251 MILLION, not Billion!

these are people who should not be left in charge of the till in an ice cream van.
We already have one set of greedy, thieving *******s involved in the countries finances
why the hell would you want to double to cost and have two!!??

It truly repulses me that some people want our country, MY bloody country to be put into the hands of people who have already managed a pretty good job of bankrupting it and you want more costs just to make it that little bit harder.

economies of scale, people...

Will you be missed, No because you will always be there, will the culture and identity of Scotland change yes because the world is getting smaller and people from all over Europe / World are chasing a better life and Scotland is just another place in Europe which better than were they live at the moment for opportunitlies. Earning money and transfer it back to there homeland as billions are transferred from the UK every year. (I would do the very same to help my family).

You will always have your History/ Culture which we all repect, get use to not having the same identity, unless you rebuild Hadrian's Wall.

Stay with the Union
But if you you do leave be supportive the the ones that wanted to stay

Good luck

Pointer were will your MP get the Money  I think if you look at this thread you will see the bias against Scotland not with. ;).Relocate what you like to englandshire its time to wipe the slate clean.I cant believe Englanders are not supporting us fully in an independent country they did for all the other colonies.
Most of us are fully supporting you in an independent country but some of us just can't believe you are stupid enough to want to go the way everything is stacked against you.But if you do go you go it alone. You hand in your uk passport and get a Scottish one.Not Both.If we go to Scotland we show our passports at the border you do the same until you get into the EU.If you want to work in England you apply for a work permit.Pensions frozen the day you go independent. But if you vote no Hollyrood closed down and all Scottish laws made by Westminster

OMG!!
Have you ever heard such a narrow minded, xenophobic outburst by a supposedly educated man!?

if you don't realise that the corporations are the ones running the bloody government by now you are seriously deluded

is this the kind of knee jerk nutter you want running Scotland?
someone who threatens to "retaliate" when global corporations don't toe their line?

exactly the kind of nutter I don't want in power

I have rarely heard such a hypocritical statement - “lies and distortions”
Never mind , i suspect it will prompt a few more no votes. :british:
