Afternoon. A friend of mine had an accident with there pedigree teckel and one of his working collies ! Resulting in a litter of crosses !
However I believe they could become great deer dogs ! But who knows ?
Has anyone on here ever come across this mix or have any opinions ?

Never heard of that mix.
Let me see?
It could find the deer (teckel), round them up for you (collie)and bring them in nice an close, OR
it could empty the county of deer (teckel), finally come home and nip you on the back of the leg (collie) to get you going, OR
it'll look outside when it's pi$$ing it down with rain, then at you, then go lie on the sofa like my lazy ba$tard teckel does then only go ballistic as soon as he sees the postman, like most collies do.
 
If he cares anything of his pedigree credentials... he should have had the vet terminate the pregnancy / litter.

Do not give them away..... it will come back to bite him so to speak....

Breeders spend years preserving and maintaining the their breed standard. Accidental matings like this should be terminated.

Why penalise the dog through suffering because of a human mistake........
Wouldn't do that to humans......

You are not penalising the dog....you are preventing an unwanted litter and further down the line some other person ( idiot ) breeding from this accident.
In answer to the other part of your reply ...... We do do it to humans..... The morning after pill and abortion... but thats another topic not for discussion here.

Humans have a voice to answer questions or an advocate. Unless you use the mental capacity act.
Yes it shouldn't of happened but I feel for the dog having to go through the discomfort of it all. Maybe I'm being soft.
 
Well rightly or wrongly she has given birth to six healthy pups ! As a matter of interest they phoned the blue cross and RSPCA for advice and they both advised not terminating the litter as they had thought about this !
On this point what about gwp x labs ? Or terriers . Lurchers ,sprockers ? It was not done on purpose but all has turned out ok .
If any one is interested please pm has I do believe they could be good deer dogs !

What I'm saying is that .... If I suspected that my PEDIGREE bitch of whatever breed had been caught by ACCIDENT ????? It should not have gone full term.. it would have been taken straight to the vet.
Not offered for sale on here as POSSIBLY THE NEXT BEST DEER DOG. It is a mongrel..... as are the others that you mentioned. May be they are good in the field. THEY ARE MONGRELS !!!!!!!!!!!
You pay a premium to purchase a dog / bitch with an established PEDIGREE because you like the shape temperament etc of the breed that you buy.
It is completely irresponsible for owners to allow them to get caught while in season. The bitch should have been separated from ANY fertile dog , unless the mating is planned.

Truth be known, all modern dogs that we have are mongrels. Some breeds bred with others for their traits and capabilities. Then when you have a couple of what you want you then line breed to reinforce those characteristics. That's how they were made, you just don't end up with a Teckel or Lab.
Some bitches do not show well when in season, mistakes do happen. So leave the man be and stop being all pompous about pedigrees.
 
I can just about stomach a "accident" , and obviously the "accidental" pups would be given away free of charge. I cannot stomach the fact that most "accidental" matings result in pups then being sold on for £100,200,300,400 etc etc. Money can't half alter people's morals.

Tell ,sanibel686 GWPs, Hunting Dogs Europe Teckels, Gaz Cocker spaniels, Springerman springer spaniels to name but a few on here.
They sell full pedigree dogs and guard their pedigrees at all costs.... and trust owners of their projeny to do likewise. They take the time and effort to ensure true excellent bloodlines. To buy QUALITY costs. For someone to come on here and offer for sale pups of an ACCIDENTAL and unknown cross for £400 is offensive. When pups with excellent bloodlines go for much less. I stand by my post they should have been terminated. OR at the the very least he could have them neutered so that they could not be bred from.
OR again
Let the OP do some work.... raise them, train them pick the best, cross, back cross, introduce other bloodlines... so that they breed true etc. maybe anything between 15 - 20 years work. Then come back and tell us how good they could be.

Anything with Collie cross in it is usually brighter than the owner. I have a pure Collie and she dictated this post, corrected my spelling and told me who to vote for today.
