Stalking is also one of the few sports where you can get some of your costs back if you do well. I would say to pay as much as you can afford in order to obtain it. If it doesn't work out in the first year then you have still had some fun and no doubt learnt loads in the process. You can than revaluate your price for future years. You'll learn nothing by laying in bed wishing that you had offered more.

Well- I tendered 2000.00 with the intention of shooting 10-as I own a very busy pub And get a good return on a carcass butchered by myself- but alas it wasn't enough! Thanks for your response

Well I thought £15/acre near Guildford was jaw dropping until this Easter when I had a chat about some local land just re-secured by a friend. He only just got it at £30/acre (all shooting rights) for a syndicate.
We have a retired 'gent' locally who is not long down from a certain institution in the City. He's buying up everything to squeeze for sporting use by heavy paying clients. It really has mucked the scene up locally. He's even getting surveys done to see if trout are in his ditches. Luckily a few land owners don't like the heavy handedness and are actively NOT leasing to him.
A plague of himalayan balsam upon his soul.
