  1. starting reloading..?

If you want pass throughs for blood trails try a Speer hot core or Hornady interlock. They are reasonably priced and will penetrate. If those dont work try premium bullets. As far as reloading equipment probably easiest to stay with the brand you are familiar with.
  2. .243 & .308 powders. Can I use just one powder?

H414, IMR 4064, IMR 3031 All give reasonable performance in either caliber. From personal experience.
  3. Magnum primers in none magnum loads.

I use magnum primers exclusively for .243win, 270win, 338wm, and 35 Whelen. As well as different calibers for friends. I rarely load to max but when I do I do the usual and work up slowly in increments. Frankly in 30 years of reloading Im not sure there is much difference in primers. Im thinking...
  4. From the U.S.A.

Good day all. As stated I am from the USA. Ive been hunting since I was 12 and will be 62 next month. My favorite caliber is .243 Win for deer, varmints, and target. Been reloading for 30 years. Also have (2) 270 Win., 338 WM., 35 Whelen, many shotguns, and pistols. My 243 has the second barrel...
  5. Howa .243 Deer ammo

I have inventory of the 100 grain partitions but have to believe that many of these will be outstanding with good marksmanship. I have 500 of the Speer 90 gr hot cores I was considering for a trip out west this year. Ive not used them before but have to think the hot core will get it done.
  6. Howa .243 Deer ammo

I would rather see you use a little heavier bullet. Maybe 90gr and up. I have shot at least 20 deer with my .243win using a Nosler Partitiion. Never a problem. Always a pass through. If you really want to use the 75 brain bullets I think the neck shot is very sound advice. At least you need a...
  7. That old thread 'is a .243 enough?'

I previously replied to this thread and appreciate the comments. I have had nothing but success with my .243 win. for deer. I will admit if I am thinking the shots could get past 300 yards I switch to a 270Win.To me the .270win is about the perfect deer caliber. For energy at distance, pass...
  8. That old thread 'is a .243 enough?'

If you dont mind me weighing in from the USA. I bought a 243 30 years ago. Have taken 25+ deer/antelope. I almost always use a premium bullet. A Nosler partition in 100 grains. Long shots, short shots. Always a pass through. Have lent the rifle out a few times and always make a believer out of...
