  1. FAC carrying criteria

30 year career as a cop, the last two of which were spent managing the command hub as required. Once retired I worked in a Firearms Licensing Department. So yes, I have first hand knowledge of the systems
  2. FAC carrying criteria

Good grief. Perhaps it might have been easier if you had your certificate in your glove box.........
  3. FAC carrying criteria

  4. FAC carrying criteria

Section 48 of the 1968 Act is kind of vague: (1)A constable may demand, from any person whom he believes to be in possession of a firearm or ammunition to which section 1 of this Act applies, or of a shot gun, the production of his firearm certificate or, as the case may be, his shot gun...
  5. FAC carrying criteria

No need The comms hub at the vast majority of forces will have someone with out of hours access to the National Licensing database who will be able to check your details, and if you're in your own car the Police National Computer will have a flag on your number plate to tell them you have a FAC.
  6. Boots for very wide feet?

I have a wide fit to start with , and a bunion on my right foot that makes finding a good boot difficult. Meindl Guffert are a wide last, but more importantly a wide toebox, and I'm now on my third pair. There's an outdoor shop in Clitheroe, Whalley Warm and Dry where you can have a fitting...

  13. Binos

I'm a bit of a fan of Meopta glass. I have a pair of Meopro HD 8x32 that I took in part-ex for a scope and was gobsmacked at how good they are. As with anything else, it's whether or not they suit you and your purpose, so try and get to look through a pair before you buy.
  14. Stalking Woes

Amusing but sobering tale. My lad took me up to the hill at the back of his house for a buck which obligingly appeared where he said it would at the back of some forestry blocks. Once shot and gralloched he hoisted it onto his shoulders and set off back towards the track where we'd left the...
