My favorite loads were plain ole Corelokts. 150s and 170s both did well for me but my preference was 170. Generally companies load them to same velocities so point of aim is same with iron sights. I have never cared for the leverevolution loads in 30-30 or 45-70. They didn’t group well for me...
For roe and muntjac in the woods the 357 sounds pretty good to me. Although yall prolly have some weird rules about that stuff.
I’m fairly well experienced with lever guns. 30-30 is my go to for still hunting in the woods. I don’t run it suppressed tho. 20in barrel plus can gets unwieldy for...
Well that changes things a lot. You can find brand new t3x lites in the us for $700-800. (Often even less certain times of year.) The cheapest nosler I saw was three times that much. But your situation is different.
P.S. the new ruger made marlins have gotten pretty good and offer cool rifles with 16-18 in threaded barrels for 357 and 44. Plan to buy one this spring in 357.
I have three leverguns currently. I can’t tell from the thread whether your deer restrictions are fully dictating your choice or not. When it comes to levers I like traditional rifles and cartridges but have learned it is pointless and unnecessary to chase speed with such combos. 444 is on my...
Did the OP decide on a caliber? I like my Swede and plan to try some copper bullet loads but that’s a hand loaders game for sure.
The two most intriguing newish cartridges to me are 6mm arc and 6mm Creedmoor. I think the arc probably performs better with traditional soft point bullets. The 6CM...
7-08 and x57 are arguably two of the best deer stalking cartridges ever. The only limiting factor of the 08 is you can shoot heavier bullets better in the x57. For the life of me I can not figure out why that cartridge is not popular anymore over there. I had a Ruger 77 that I loved but gave it...
I have rifles in all three. I agree with above one rifle from fox to hinds is a tall order. Take fox out and 6.5x55 seems perfect for roe to hinds. It’s my favorite out of those three to shoot by far.
What driven game are you shooting? 308 is easily the most versatile on your list and best...
That’s pretty wide open! What kind of rifle are you looking for? I’m thinking of building a 22 ARC on a Howa mini action. Something about those mini actions are just cool. Seems perfect for foxes.
Sort of a preference thing. I suppose if it’s your only lever or what you are used to it could be but being used to my other levers I find the shorter pivot to be awkward. I mean not a deal breaker but my other more traditional levers are more comfortable to me.
