I am looking for some new quad sticks i can’t decide between the blaser or Spartan
Is there any one with any experience of the 2
Thanks

Blaser for me, the swivelling front yoke gives a great field of fire and my rifles sit in the yokes hands free if I need to reach for something with one hand.
Had mine years, once set for your height good to go.

Viper flex for me. I managed to bend my viper flex journey sticks so I contacted viperflex to see if I could buy the bent pieces. I was sent an email back asking to contact Simpson bros guns. I did and they mended the bent pieces free of charge excellent back up.

@wytonpjs (i think...) will do you a modification to use the Blaser sticks with a Spartan adapter... I've not seen or used the Spartan, but a few people have said the wide rear cradle gets in their way, and I can't help thinking that moving the forend to track would be more intuitive than moving the rear side-to-side as per the Spartan...

The blaser look and feel well made, I like the way they nest together neatly as well

I think my Blaser sticks came with a Spartan stud that you can swap to.

That’s only for the Blaser specific Spartan mount - they have different diameters I believe. Won’t work with regular Spartan adapters.

To answer the OPs question while I am here - I had Blaser quad sticks for a long time and they were fantastic. Couldn’t fault them. @wytonpjs did a Spartan adapter for me and it was excellent!

I have however now moved back to a tripod and will remain with this setup.

Thanks for all the replies I like the blaser tracking but also like the flex in the Spartan for kneeling, so can’t decide which would be more beneficial

That's good to know, I don't have any Spartan stuff myself unfortunately.
Thanks for the info.👍

Using Blaser and Viper flex sticks, cant justify price of the Spartans.
One thing to note is that the rifle stock needs to be considered.
If your rifle has a rounded fore end, the blaser sticks work well, flatter fore end go for the Vipers
Another point to consider is the locking mechanism, the blaser set uses a twist lock which seems to allow a twist to form in the legs, the Vipers use brass locking pins and once set, stay put.
The Spartan system works great on bi pods, for weight carrying and speed of attaching them when required for stalking.
Trying to fit a rifle onto Spartan system when in the dark foxing is another matter.

Viperflex to be honest but that doesn’t answer your question so…

The Spartan ones are expensive, very loud and need to be contained with two clips to prevent them springing open in both directions and worst of all the rear cradle when you reach the end the rifle drops because the support is rubber springy stuff. To be honest they have just tried to make sticks that work with their attachment to the detriment of all other features. They are good though for switching between standing the kneeling positions. Also useful on very uneven ground because they have cant ability more than others.

The Blaser ones are pretty stable and you can get @wytonpjs to make you a stud for the Spartan adapters if you want. I have found that the leg locks can come undone, the securing strap is best removed as you will loose it pretty quickly and they aren’t as strong as Viperflex.

I have owned and used all three FYI.

I Have a Spartan "EcoSystem"!
  • At the range or downhill prone - use TAC bipod (TAC in range bag, long regular carried on bino harness)
  • Sticks (98% of all my stalking) - off my Blaser sticks with modified spigot
  • Off-the bonnet - the Spartan Sucker Mount
  • Off the Quad - Homemade Spartan adapter fitted to a Smart Rest Off-Road
Works very well........in for a penny, in for a pound:tiphat:

I went Viper for the 5th leg as they were readily available and cheaper than the Blaser 5th - the only outlet I tripped over doing the Blaser ones was Malmo Guns and that was too far to travel to have a look before buying. The Vipers are everywhere. I would say that I use the 5th almost every time I use the sticks if it’s not a fast shot. Much more stable and with practice it’s fast. My youngest 3D printed me a better clip to retain the Viper onto the Blaser sticks. I have some spares if required.

I have Blaser sticks. Nice and light, quiet in use, no whistles in the wind….I do find the leg adjusters a complete faff and quite irritating to get just right and a leg slipping even though you thought you had it tight when on target, oh the joys, it has cost me a couple of deer over the years …..but once you’ve got them set and tight so they don’t slip, nice to use.

Vipers - had the Blaser V2 and sold them soon after.

V2 are nice and light, but think they have a massive design floor as they only really can be carried with the back legs clipped into the handle - I found that I could only open them using two hands.

Vipers with a simple flick are in bipod mode - much faster and easier.

You are right with the legs clipping in, and if you’re not careful they can make quite a noise when they spring out.
