Looking for a new company car, going yo have to be a lower end family friendly SUV, pickup full on 4x4 not an option.

Will be used for forestry roads.

Any experiance of Jaecoo or BYD from china or any other options to consider?

You need to read the reviews. However, be careful as a lot of “influencers”, were invited to try certain Chinese brands and were told that they would be expected (in the contract. Alleged.) to say nice things. So look for balanced reviews

Omoda 9 looks good value also has 4x4 200mm ground clearance and a 600mm wading depth. Stick from AT rubber on it and I am sure it will do most people’s off road needs. Also has a 93 mile electric range so company car tax is about the lowest of all hybrids.

No option to take a car allowance instead? - been a few years since I got off the company car merry go round but I got fed up with being forced to chose from a reducing list of cars as each year the company sought out a better deal from their suppliers & at the same time trimmed back the monthly lease cost you were entitled to. Just bought my own car & took the cash each month & whacked it into my pension scheme as salary sacrifice so no tax or NI on it at source.

Last firm I worked at didn’t even give you the option of a company car, it was car allowance only. They realised that if they gave you a company car they pretty much had to give you a parking space & those cost money!

The only time it has been good value is the salary sacrifice for EVs, which i have used to my advantage.

Just got the BYD Seal as a temporary company car-its very nice, plenty fast enough, good economy, comfortable and quality seems good. Electronics and software seem glitch free too.
