Drainage

I have got a problem with water leaking into my cellar it was a problem for about 3 years then after a load of hassle and stress I managed to get United Utilities to fix 5 drains out the back and for 6 months it’s been dry. Until 10 days ago I am now getting water leaking in on Sunday mornings and between 7-9pm. It is running in and I am mopping up about 2-3 gallons a night.
I have had them back out to it and they are a bunch of useless tossers. They throw some dye in drains then blast a load of water down for 20 seconds flushing the dye straight thru. Then tell me it’s the water table they looked a bit confused when I said has the water table got a watch.
Short of paying for a drain survey has anyone got any idea how to get these remoulds to do there job properly

I dont know where you live or how close your nearest dwelling is with this timing i would suspect a drain from a close dwelling and it only leaks when under heavy load, like a bath being emptied and a toilet flush, it could help to narrow it down. They would need to temporarily block the drains on the down hill side and then flush with dye to give a similar load.

It is a mid terrace with a court yard area to the rear then another row of houses 15ft away.

looking at where you live i would call davy brown he has a company called rat detection but also does drain inspections and repairs.
Ive known him prob 10 years really is one of the best in the buissness. His company works with water companies alot so they will listen to him and his reports are spot on

Have you checked with your neighbours?

The fact that the timing of the leakage is so predictable and precise would make me think it's perhaps linked with someone using a garden irrigation system, washing machine, dishwasher or similar.

We have a 7 metre deep well in the back garden, that normally has about a 2 metre depth of water. Most times water drips into the well from 1-2 metres above the water surface level, but one Summer it was dripping in from 1-2 metres below ground level - so 3 or 4 metres above normal. After getting the water company out to check everything - which was fine - it transpired that the problem was a neighbour who had left a garden hose on all over the Summer. Once it was turned off, things reverted to normal. Clearly they weren't on a water meter!!!

After a lot of arguing with the idiots at united utilities I have sorted the issue. I got them out again on Thursday and the guy who cannot put a camera down every drain and spotted issues with 2 pipes. But dye testing didn’t prove anything. I was thinking about it and decided to install an outside tap on my house so I could dye test it again but over a longer period of time sure enough after 15 minutes the dye appeared from the neighbours soil pipe. I rang up uu again to have yet another argument with a woman who insisted it must be ground water. I am now awaiting them to dig it up to repair the pipe work.
