17 hmr cartridges

Good evening everyone
Been using hornady and occasionally remmington 17 hmr rounds for the past 10 years or so and I’ve had no complaints with either apart from the odd cracked casing.
My local gun shop has cci’s and Winchester’s slightly cheaper, both are 17 gr but abit cheaper.
Has anyone used either in a cz452?
Cheers rob

winchester make their own 17 hmr ammunition but all other makes are made by hornady ,cci will be hornady but with a different colour tip, remington is a gold tip but is still made by hornady . down this way winchester are/were selling for £15.50 for 50 and all hornady made were £17 per 50 BUT many rfd wont stock the 17 hmr

Alternate between Winchester & Hornady 17gr depending on availability/price. Last switch from Win to Hor only needed a clik to re-zero. Both excellent little rounds through my CZ

No no. CCI make pretty much everyone's except for Winchester.

Good luck with the Winchester in your cz. Mine didn't like them .
Yep definitely. Although Hornady do make some of theirs now I believe. Not sure if that was a reaction to the issues that some ammo had. I remember you saying that you had found some changes to the powder in HMR cartridges. Out of interest, is this only Hornady branded cartridges or various cartridges.

If it is just Hornady, I imagine that is out of their own factory. If it is also other brands, then I am guessing CCI changed the recipe across the board as a reaction to some issues. Maybe Hornady pressured them to make some alterations as it is their name associated with the chambering, even though they did initially task CCI with all manufacture when the cartridge was created over 20yrs ago.

But generally speaking, Winchester have their own line and I have heard it mentioned they might relabel Browning ammo although I have never seen this stuff myself.

CCI used to make CCI, Remington, Hornady, Federal, Norma and god knows what else.

The winchesters are the most expensive and the cci’s were the cheapest.
Im a tight git so I’ll try the cci’s lol

Cheers rob
I've done alright with CCI hmr in the past. I don't know why it's not more popular. They do a nice hollow point.
There 20gn fmj was awesome and very fast, faster than they said on the box and foxes don't like either.
This one was an 80yd shot and it folded in 10yds.

Great shooting 👍
I’ve done well on foxes with my hmr to be fair but I’ve never really pushed over It 100 yards or so. Think my furthest rabbit was around the 180-190 mark but I don’t tend to push it too far.
Shot 1 at 70ish the other night that was a good size
I have never tried the 20 grains I have always had Hornady 17 gr or Remington 17 gr v max

The 20 grain soft point knocks them over well.
