Fallow 22lr pest control YouTube

22 is hugely effective with subs. SuperSonics have found just inaccurate, at best.

Shot many a fox with them in the past, but never deer/large deer obviously ! 🙄 😂

I’ve shot a couple roe from a plantation that had a poaching issue, and a couple had 22lr subs lodged into the back of their skulls - never penetrated the back bone structure of the skull.

For the 22lr it’s all about distance to target as to how effective it is, and at 30-40yds it’s very effective, at 120, it is starting to fall asleep

The little .22lr can and has killed a fair few Large Gizzly Bears , so no doubt you can kill fallow , indeed it will all UK deer , Here is the issue though ..... it needs spot on the spot placement . In the real world deer will move when your just breaking the sear on the shot ! If you really need super quiet a big heavy for calibre bullet- with a small amount of fast powder will do the job far better with a .308 case
Both ways are not Legal to use in the UK .

Ol boy I knew in Scotland shot 23 reds over 10 days as they came into his turnip field - all with his very elderly scopeless 22lr and Eley hv.
Only one way in through the hedge - he hid 10 yards downwind and shot them in the head as they came through…

Many of the wild boar trapping fraternity use .22lr on the boar to kill them from close range .
Close range is the thing ,il stick with with the guidelines. 270 .
I've shot a fallow with .22 pellets in the poor things neck found on processing .

Can be both at the same time?
Absolutely they can!
I don't know why folk insist on putting deer up on a pedestal is if they were somehow more important than other quarry species.
Do people lose as much sleep over a lost fox or rat? Do they call out a tracking team to help them find it? Do they hell!
But a life is a life. All equally worthy of respect. And equally likely to be pests!

NZ and Australia they are an invasive species and treated as such.

I know someone who poached so many Reds with a .22 that he paid for his 1st little house with the proceeds, always waited for them to come to the sugarbeet clamps. Him and his pal poached 5 one night, got them dragged up in the back of a pig float and drove a few miles to wake up the game dealer... they dropped the tailgate ramp and one was trying to stand up.... the dealer said
"I know you always bring 'em fresh.. but I don't want 'em quite this fresh" he then shot it with a .410 that stood in the corner... this was all 50 plus years ago, so don't loose much sleep chaps..
🤣🤣

subsonic/223/243/308 and the noisey 17 hmr have all killed deer. poachers use what ever they can get their hands on .shot gun at night around here at the moment !

I had to deal with this a couple of years ago, farmer suspected someone had done a drive by with a .22rf, and saw it bed down in some gorse. I went out with the GWP and bumped it into the open to shoot it. Would have been a miserable end if left. Yes in the right hands the rimfire can do the job, but centre fire just does it better.

I wouldn't gamble to much on that being done with a .22lr.
