Urban deer

This image just popped up on my Facebook feed. I’ve heard of peri-urban deer but this is ridiculous. Not much of a backstop! Apparently the locals feed and water them.

People like deer; the red deer at their ease in the river flats above Beamer were a tangible asset to Braemar village, bringing tourists by the busload to spend in the village, every other day in certain times of the year. All but gone now under the new prescription - Cui Buono, apart from the game dealer?
See the elk in the rut in Montana or Wyoming wandering around the town - they’re hardly a major problem, but they are a major attraction - sometimes we can coexist to mutual benefit- they don’t all have to be culled?

That’s a very fair point. Anything that brings a better connection between wildlife and people is a good thing. I guess my initial thought was about the welfare of the animals, but they seem habituated to their environment.
