Expiring certificate

My Coterminous are in as I write, acknowledged with in a fortnight by post, informing me that if the renewal is late for what ever reason keep this letter with your certificates should you be asked, to show my renewal is in progress. You need to ask what the time frame is? you are not at fault yet' although time is an issue on their part. Talk to your SHOOTING REPRSENTATIVE if you have one and or your local MP as they have been known to get things moving. Good luck.

surely thy should be taken to task for that thats the point of section 7 as its their fault its not done in time , anyone find it odd fees have increased but service has got no better
 
I guess if they put so many obstacles and barriers in place at renewal, and have very limited contact details, with no guarantee of a response, that in effect puts the FAC/SGC holder in breach of the laws they interpret, however they choose to..... we will all end up in a pickle and probably consider if the gain is worth the pain... :rolleyes:

You can ask for storage fees to be paid.

I have heard many FLDs pay them because it is cheaper than defending in the small claims court.
 
If you get a s7 or your statutory 8wks has been and gone, you do not have an FAC any more, it has expired
You new cert must start from the date it is issued, not the date the old one expired.

With regards to the contact number, if anyone calls it then it is answered by a normal member of the FLD team, who then stops work doing the checks or paperwork, etc further slowing them down.
Only call if your question cannot be answered by a trawl of their website.
 
BCH commit fraud quiet happily, when mine ran out adter 8 week extension i signed all guns over to the other half and she mived the keys, received an email confirming ticket had run out, then 6 months later new ticket arrived back dated to look like no delay on their part. Utterly shambolic compared to how they used to be. The guy in charge should be prossecutted
 
If I were in the OP’s position I would contact my shooting organisation asap & ask them to intervene. They typically have direct contact, & reasonably good working relationships, with the key staff in the licensing departments & are well placed to get this sort of thing resolved. I’d also put whoever provides any insurance I might have, either through my shooting association or separately, on notice of the situation & let my shooting association know I have that cover.

BCH have told me if you receive a backdated cert. to contact them as it is a mistake, this is from the admin manager. I believe the system automatically fills the date and if not checked thoroughly it can be missed.

Perhaps the problem is some of the staff are both inexperienced and rushed to get certs through quicker.
 
Get a complaint whacked in to your police force .
Stick to the facts.

Write a timeline of what happened and how it's not possible to contact them and how they are compromising public safety by not answering queries and not doing the job they have a statutory duty to do. Mention full cost recovery.

OP applied 7 months prior to expiry, guidance suggests 8 weeks prior to get the extension, we are paying full cost for an inferior service with no one willing to fight the case. Any other industry would be getting fined and people would be sacked for this level of incompetence
