"What does your daddy do..."

Honestly .... the thermal management aspect of Lithium Ion product concerns me somewhat. One advantage is that they don't produce Hydrogen in normal operation so thats good. Would be interested to know if the insurance company knows they are there :)

We dont do much with Lithium Ion (still lead acid) ...our insurance cost was going to increase by 60% if we started.

I did a lot of work with Lithium batteries, regarding containment, just run away, if the flames from the thermal runaway don’t get you, the chemicals from the smoke will. I had to sort out battery containment and when I explained about the smoke getting out and the cost to decontaminate all I got was shrugged shoulders.

We have installed a few BESS systems ...4 MWh sort of size for a couple of the suppliers we work with .. but fitted with passive and active fire suppression etc .. as you said the best bet is to "run" :) 👍

Wouldn’t want to be in shark infested waters with that…

Coming to a district near you, all that lithium for one or at most two hours extra supply before they fail. CATL’s Sodium batteries can’t come soon enough…

It will be interesting to see if the claims with Sodium Ion are actually true in the real world...lithium has had close to 40 years of development. Lots of other technology out there...just the usual cost, cycle life, depth of discharge etc etc.

Good job all the AI data centres we will need don't use much power...or water

Now retired. Chartered Biomedical Scientist specialising Gynae Cytology. Spent hours each day looking down a microscope for pre cancerous cells. Then all changed to HPV testing and molecular biology. According to Mrs 'CD', .....not a lot. However, I disagree. I always seemed busy enough hunting, shooting and fishing. 😃

Joking aside, began as a new & used car salesman, Audi, BMW, VW, Citroën.......& Cadillac 😯(never actually sold one though)😄. Ended up 25 + yrs working for HMG.

Retired at 51, and been enjoying life since.
