Nah, I did plenty of load development using published data without a chrono. It’s not needed to find an accurate hunting load, 9 times out of 10 you can get 1/2-1” at 100 by just shooting at increments, generally less than 30 rounds shot.

If you get into the realms of shooting calibres or combinations with no published data, relying on QL simulations etc. then yes a chrono is invaluable

Using this method you Should get get a pretty good load with less than 20 rounds sent down range.

Ah, I get what you are saying now! Yes, that would get you in the ball park with minimal consumables wasted
