I’ve been watching the local cuckoos again this year and found this youngster today in a meadow pipits nest after watching the parent pipit back to the nest with food. It’s several days old so the egg was probably layed 21st/22nd May. Earliest for me, i normally find eggs in early June 👍🏻

Still waiting to hear one here in Hampshire!

Heard one every season over the last five or six seasons some times get a glimpse of him where his mate is, is a mystery to me. Did get a photo of him calling with the mobile one time. Did hear him last week come to think of it, is SURREY.

BC.

Listening to a cuckoo the other night and came across this nest; any ideas of the bird of these eggs?

I have a few ideas, and the wife's a birdwatcher with hers, so let's see if anyone can shed light on this please?

Used to see them on a permission I had in Northwood many many years ago.
Non of my permissions have I seen any lately

I have not heard one yet this year
They’ve been at it for a few weeks up on the top. Nearly done I think - Middle of June change their tune and all that.

Despite hearing then every year around here, I rarely actually see them calling. Once about 20 years ago and then have seen 3 this year at it!!

I've seen two.

One at about 30 yards away, at Burnham On Crouch. Four weeks ago.

Second at about 100 yards last week, at Two Tree Island, South Essex.
