Good, inexpensive red stag - another fantastic offer for charity

Yet another auction from the Outer Hebrides Fisheries Trust. This is another chance to win some very low cost stalking and fishing of the highest quality. A few days back a member on here won a day at stags on South Uist for 212 and potentially this day on North Uist might sell for even less, and for some people might represent even better value:

Currently this is 2 rods for one day fishing (salmon and sea trout) plus one rifle to shoot a stag plus overnight accommodation for 100. The North Uist stalking tends to be pretty easy going so even if you feel you might not be fit enough to stalk the big hills this might give you a chance at a real, wild red stag in a pretty remote location that actually requires not too much physical effort.

The estate can produce big trophy heads, though they charge a trophy fee for everything 10 points and up, so if you wanted a trophy then this is your chance to get a real wild one rather than something in a back garden that's just walked out of a horse box, or you could just tell the stalker you don't want to pay trophy fees and not to offer you a shot on anything over 9 points. All the info is on the estate web site.

The Outer Hebrides Fisheries Trust are a charity who conserve fisheries and the general environment in the Outer Hebrides. This auction is to raise funds and the estates have donated the lots so all of the money raised goes to the Trust. They've had a few of these lots come up over the last while and you can't always be sure what will come up next until the estate donates the lot but for the sportsman looking a great Hebridean adventure then this has to be worth a punt.

As previously I've no connection with the estate or the Fisheries Trust, I just noticed that these auctions were not widely publicized and so the lots were selling well below market value so they offer a great deal for anyone looking a day out.

Another auction has just come up and it is a remarkable opportunity - a MacNab at Amhuinnsuidhe. It is starting at 250, I've honestly no idea what it is worth if you might be invited to pay full price for it and I know the estate don't often offer MacNabs.

While the other auctions I've posted have been really great deals on good stalking this is probably a once in a lifetime "money can't buy" type of opportunity. At the minute this is the best value MacNab in the history of the universe but all it takes is two people who know what it is actually worth to start a bidding war and it could easily go through the roof.

I would suggest that you'd want to be reasonably fit if you want to give this a try and I guess I don't need to say much more as you either know Amhuinnsuidhe and what this means, or you don't.

I'm going to give this a quick bump for anyone who hasn't seen it as there is less than 24 hours to go on these auctions and they remain unique opportunities for sportsman on a budget to buy into first rate, big money sport.

The North Uist lot is a chance for some fantastic stag stalking at a very good price.

The Amhuinnsuidhe MacNab is a once in a lifetime opportunity as many will know that this is one of the premier sporting destinations and estates in Europe and they rarely do MacNabs. Amhuinnsuidhe is one of the most amazing places that you will ever visit. The honest truth is that this auction has not been well publicized and this has held the price down but if it had been more widely known about then I'd have expected this lot to have broken 1k and, maybe, to head well towards 2k. If you want to do a MacNab then don't miss this one but be aware that this is real, wild sport right on the Western edge of the Atlantic so you'd want to be as fit as possible. There is a photo of a recent (indeed that I know of the last) Amhuinnsuidhe MacNab in this Field article on where to do one, pleasingly 3 of the suggested estates are on Lewis or Harris:

Well done 75, I don't know if you've been to Amhuinnsuidhe before but it is truly one of the most spectacular places on earth and you get a place in sporting history. I fish or shoot 100 days per year but nothing beats driving out the road to Amhuinnsuidhe and coming around the corner to the castle and knowing that you are in for another remarkable North Harris day. You also got it for the most fantastic price plus the money all goes to a really good cause so it is win-win all around. Congratulations!

Well done Bez, I think that is 3 cracking days folks off the SD have won in this auction and they've all got them for a good price and, as you say, the money goes to a good cause. I know the Hebrides are a long way to go but most people who come for sport find, when they are leaving, that their only interest in the journey is in how soon they can get to come back.
