I dont know about Vat at all.

The first rifle @680 GBP`s ,can you advise if ..when all is added up what it would come too?

AUD$1200 is £746
Shipping - £50 (?) probably more...
Net - £796
Import Tax @4.7% - £37
Net £833
VAT @20% - £167
Total cost - £1000

+1 for Mauser M12 and you may find a Sako A7 for your money.
£1400 will get me a nicer gun and if that were the circumstances I'd buy another Sako 85 but unfortunately my budget is £1000 maximum . Therefore seeking thoughts on anyone who's handled anything worth a look within my budget .

Cheers

How about a rebarrel? There's a Sako 75 Action IV on here for £400. Add a rebarrel for £650 and you're there within budget ish...

If you want nice wood and a handsome and nice shooting rifle, light weight and good handling, consider the Browning X-Bolt or the Winchester M70 Featherweight.

I have an SHR 970 in .280 Remington with a spare .270 Win barrel, and another in .308 Win, both in nice walnut ( not as nice as the Deluxe ! ) and with spare synthetic stocks.
It weighs 7.25 lbs in wood and a bit under 7 lbs in synthetic stock. All the barrels are 22 inches from the factory.
Fully Iaflon (Teflon ) coated, smooth as a Tikka T3, Sauer 202, or Mannlicher SBS.
Mine, and several friends who have the same in .30-06, all shoot well under 1 MOA. With top ammo, more like 5/8 MOA - truly amazing out of the box.
.25-06 and .30-06 will give you wide range of good bullets, from 75 grains to 200 grains.

Oh now that is nice. Don't know what my FAO will say about adding a 25-06 but I do have 2 open slots for 30-06, so maybe he'll be ok with a variation one for one. Wood is not what I'm after but that is very tempting. Phone call to Mr Poiliceman me thinks. Same cartridge also.

Howa is a glaring omission from anyone, which is strange. Thought Howa were very popular.

It's done. Acquired a smashing Swiss Arms 970 off a chap from this site. Cheers for the input. I'll be buying a Bergara soon also, as I want a synthetic stock pig gun.

All the best

I hope your experience with the SHR 970 is as good as mine has been. I will post or PM you some .30-06 loads proven in the SHR 970.

Thanks but I don't load my own. Factory ammunition only. Generally Federal or Sako. I've a 25-06 barrel as well as a 30-06.
