17 Hornet case length

Hi,
Trying to find reloading equipment for 17 hornet, dies are easily obtainable, but I can’t find any case length gauges.
What are you guys using to cut the cases.
I mainly use Lee for the dies and cage length guage and cutter but Lee don’t make them in 17 hornet.
Any other options ?
Cheers

Hello m8 I reload 17 hornet as well and I had a nightmare with this so your after a bushing . G240 is for the .17 hornet I still haven't bought one yet I do it the hard way at moment also make sure to get your self done decent digital calipers cos the cheap ones will give you miss readings and will give you inconsistent results

lol I went from digital to dial calipers keeps the OCD in check, as for the bushing die I prefer to full length size

Ow I may have mis understood I thought you was talking about a headspace guage you us with the calipers I have the hornady full length die. Altho I am after a a .17 decapping pin, but it seems no one in the UK has them only the lee universal pins but they won't fit the 17 hornet

For case length i have set a lee precision delux quick trim case trimmer to the required case length 1.34/1.35” using vernier callipers and then just run each case through the case trimmer as part of the loading process, looking for a witness mark, shiny case mouth as confirmation that the case is still to length. Obviously inspect the case for other defects.

I only full length resize the cases, it’s a live quarry gun not a f class target gun.

You not into finding your lands for optimal bullet seating depth then, to be fair mines a quarry gun I just can't help myself get a little to into it lol,
I only bought the hornet to get into reloading as figured be the cheapest round to reload but after shooting it it's become my favourite gun.
Question what's your over all bullet size.

over all cartridge length i stick to 1.720” so it fits and feeds from the magazine and feeds as reliably as possible.

no point finding the lands if it no longer fits in the magazine.

Works for me more than happy with the accuracy. Using the Kranks value 17grain bullets for the rabbits.
