2024 squirrels, post them here.

Hopefully tomorrow I will purchase a dedicated "Squirrel Gun" a Synth Mossy Hush in 410 to have some fun with when I go on the feed round.... but I have resorted to trapping in the meantime, got three today which was a full house as I only had three traps out, put another three out this afternoon, I'll put another three out tomorrow.
What traps do you use? Do you make your own box/cage for them or use an off the shelf option?

I'm using the MK4 fenn trap, and I make all the boxes from rough-sawn 1" softwood, they are 22" long with internal dimensions to suit the trap, and both ends have a circular hole in the cover piece which I cut with a hole saw in a pillar drill, the top inspection hatch is held in place with a couple of simple wooden turn-buttons. The traps are all on the floor in the areas where I feed the pheasants, I sometimes pick an odd rat up as well.

Edit; On the inside of the box I screw two battens across the floor, it holds the trap in position, and I put a scoop of wheat in this compartment and set the trap on top, I may run a knife along a corncob as well to drop a few kernels on top ;)

Nice one, how do you find reloading them, do you think it Is more cost effective?

And do you have a press etc to reload them? I see quite a few guys using homemade tools which is quite interesting.
Cost effective if you have some reclaimed shot lying around and some cheap powder that was being thrown out and use tissue paper for wads!
My tools are home made apart from a roll crimper. Before that I just glued an overshot card in with nail varnish.
I just load a few now and then to offset the cost a little.
I gave peanuts for half a can of n110 which was handy as my h110 had just run out and I haven't got much a2400 left!
I punch thin cards for wads to sandwich a ball of tissue paper between. I load 24g of shot. #7.5.
👍🏻

Old saying better being lucky than good 😄
I had few nice shots today 50m + on 3 of them, I also like to try when the opportunity arises is trying to shoot running squirrels with the 22 great fun 😁
Running shots I've always struggled with. One bloke I knew was amazing at it but not me.

I used to do a lot of rabbit shooting with a guy who used to head shoot rabbits on the run ,.quite amazing to witness.

John Gryphon, not easily. We have over a hundred feeders out, with lids ranging between 5 and 30cm round. each time we feed these need to be removed and replaced. Shooting (invasive species) squirrels is the answer.
