204 powder choice??

In need of some advice?? I am trying to get back into reloading for a 204. I used to use cfe223 powder. I’m wondering what else folk are using. Hoping to try a different brand that I can acquire closer to home. Thanks

It depends on what weight bullet your loading for DT.
In my experience with .204 reloading N140 for the 40gr Vmax & Bergers.
N135 for the 32gr & 39gr projectiles,Ramshot Tac is also a good powder for these.
I found RL10x a dirty powder & didn't give a nearly full case however other people's experiences are good.

I spent a small fortune on a variety of powders to reload for my .204 with and simply could not get the results I wanted (to match the Hornady Superformance 32gr ammo). THEN I tried (Yes, I know .. ) CFE223

Suffice to say that I now only use home-loads and performance is actually slightly better that with the factory ammo

If you can find something else that will match Superformace in terms of both accuracy and velocity then you're a lucky fella !

CFE223 and the 32g Varma are number one in my rifle; Exterminator is a close second. I've used N130 too, but the velocity wasn't there, also N140 with 39/40 gainers.

For 32 grain, I may be lucky, but have developed highly accurate rounds with Viht N130, N133 and Ramshot Xterminator..

Just ran this through Quickload, it reckons that to get this velocity from RS52 you'll be WAY over pressure (over 65,000psi), and a 108% case fill, so pretty compressed!

Are you loads compressed? Any signs of pressure?

No signs of pressure, load is slightly compressed, 101%, I use quickload as well, velocity was a surprise as it forecasted 3800. Only burning g 98.8% in a 26" barrel with a forecast pressure of 55, 000psi. Velocity measured over 10 shots with a magnetospeed v3.

I’m using 39grn with 25.1 grn load of N133, recently surprised how slow these are at 3495fps.
Gun it’s really soft recoil and very accurate easily shooting sub 0.5moa groups.
Also been looking at something speedier
